HTC Desire 500 review

With a quad-core processor for this price, something's gotta give, right?

MicroSD support ; BlinkFeed ; Decent camera ; Quad-core

Poor internal storage ; Low res screen ; Screen doesn't sit flush ; No 4G

Ratings in depth HTC offers a mean flagship, in the form of the HTC One. But the firm knows that a lot of the mobile market now lies in the budget sector, and this is where the HTC Desire 500 is pitched. It might not have the super low price of the ZTE...

VIDEO REVIEW: A very capable mid-range Android smartphone with a Nexus 5 shaped problem

Nice, classy design, Bright and clear screen, Decent general performance

Camera slightly inconsistent, Battery life a little weak, Mediocre built-in speaker

HTC Desire 500 review

The HTC Desire is one of the best looking smartphones available right now. Measuring it at 131.8 x 66.9 x 9.9mm, it's about the perfect size in terms of fitting your hand and weighing just 123g it's not a brick either.

The HTC Desire 500 is a great-looking device, with tons of unique software and solid mid-range smartphone specs on board. It's hard to find any real weaknesses with the phone, including its reasonable £199 price tag. To sum up, it's simply a very good...

HTC Desire 500 Review: In Depth

The HTC Desire 500 is a relatively inexpensive mid-range phone aimed at the type of buyer who wants something solid, but not necessarily cutting edge. We're seeing many phones of a similar ilk these…

Great design ; Smart, stylish interface ; Beats Audio response

Poor battery life ; Average camera ; Low internal storage

So, should you buy an HTC Desire 500?

HTC Desire 500 review

The Desire 500 has a similar front-end to the HTC One (M8) and a good camera, but battery life and performance are both poor

The camera is one of many things we like about the HTC Desire 500. It has a great display, it's slim, light and good-looking, and we like the Sense skin. However, it's pricey compared to the Moto G, its battery life is poor and performance is sluggish.

HTC Desire 500

In the past I have often asked to review HTC devices as they looked smart and had little extra bits of quality. My name never seemed to come to the top of the list, with this unit however I was offered it I did not even have to ask.
