HTC Desire HD

Big, beautiful, and brilliant, this is the best smartphone on the market.

Large screen ; Well designed ; Packed with features

Average battery life ; Very big ; Lack of HDMI output

All of which brings us to our conclusion. What's clear about the Desire HD is that it isn't perfect. We feel its screen is unnecessarily large and though very good isn't the best quality on the market, its battery life isn't the best either, its still...

HTC Desire HD review

HTC Desire's successor, the HTC Desire HD, is bigger, but only a little bit better

HTC Sense is intuitive ; 720p HD movie mode ; Great browser

Poor battery life ; The handset is big ; Screen isn't as good as rivals

HTC Desire HD review

The Desire's successor finally lands but is it an improvement?

Super-slick UI ; Great browsing experience ; Dolby Mobile and SRS virtual surround sound ; Decent e-book reader ; Very easy to connect contacts

Poor battery life ; No OLED screen ; Suspect build quality ; Video player needs overhauling ; HTCSense.com connectivity still has bugs

After the success of the HTC Desire, the Taiwanese firm is looking to take smartphones to the next level with the super-sized HTC Desire HD. But is it the next tech-filled talisman for the brand or a super-sized effort too far?

HTC Desire HD

Following the unibody design that started with the HTC Legend , the HTC Desire HD fuses the looks of its namesake 3.7-inch device with the form factor of the HD line, the HTC HD2 and HTC HD7 . Essentially, adding the HD tag owes more to the form factor...

More features than you can shake a stick at, build quality, Android 2.2, hugely powerful and fast experience

The level of customisation can be overwhelming, the typical 800 x 480 pixel resolution display doesn't quite earn its HD tag, battery could have a higher capacity, HTCSense.com needs work

So there is certainly no shortage of features on the Desire HD - and there will never be the space to cover everything in this review - as well as all the benefits of Android 2.2 sitting behind it with its app offering that is rapidly gaining on...

HTC Desire HD review

A souped-up version of the HTC Desire that wowed us last year, the Google Android 2.2 'Froyo'-based HTC Desire HD is one of the most popular smartphones on the market. Our review sample was supplied by Vodafone, where the HTC is available on a...

The HTC Desire HD has a fantastic screen, good multimedia and web-browsing credentials and very good battery life. Its Sense interface is a welcome addition not seen on other makers’ handsets.

HTC Desire HD review

A responsive, big screen and all the features you could ever want, but HTC's Sense software is becoming bloated, battery life is below average and it's expensive.

HTC Desire HD review

The Android 2.2-fuelled HTC Desire HD is a supersized version of the five-star Desire. But is it worth upgrading?

Size issue aside, the multimedia hungry Desire HD is Android’s most complete and feature-rich phone to date

HTC Desire HD

HTC has taken its Android-powered Desire smartphone – one of the finest smarties money can buy – and pumped it up to monster proportions. The HD model now has a giant 4.3in widescreen, extra firepower in the camera department and the latest Android 2.2...

Great screen - bright and sharp colour detail. It's responsive to the gentlest of touches.
