G.SKILL PHOENIX PRO 60GB SATA II SSD – SUPER FAST With added SandForce Goodness

There was a time, early to mid 90s, when the PC gaming was under going a revolution. In fact the entire gaming industry was going through one.

G.SKILL FM-25S2S-64GB 2.5" 64GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

It's quick, I load vista with the 10 programs I have set to load in 4-6 seconds. The average read/write speed is 133 MB/s in vista according to Everest Ultimate

It is really small, I had to jimmy rig this guy to stay in my hot swap drive bay. It works but it would be more appealing if it were 3.5 standard

Stuttering

I'm running Windows 7 RC, and in one of the other ratings G.SKILL said in a "Manufacturer Response" that the stuttering issue "is a common issue with older operating systems. Most issues will be resolved with Windows 7." This is not the case. I have...

It's fast, it's big, and it's cheap

The first month was great, but now I have issues with the drive stuttering. The computer will just pause for a second or so then continue. This problem is especially bad if something is being copied onto the drive while I'm doing something else

Great Starter SSD

Disable Superfetch and pagefiles, otherwise you will age this drive prematurely. Later models of SSD's have a trim tool to help restore performance. But this model the only way to restore it is to quick format the drive, which can be disastrous if its...

Super easy installation and easily compatible with Vista and Win 7. Very fast main OS drive. Games launch fast and zoning in MMO's is also very quick. Recommended if you only do one thing on your computer at a time (one browser window, one game)...more...

Its only good for an OS drive. Even the worst of them start off excellent but with a few months of decent use you start to come into issues. 5 months after purchase I started getting system wide stuttering. Opening up my usual MMO and a browser (and in...

GREAT SDD

Popped it in my computer, loaded Windows 7 RC, and off and running. Not sure it could be much easier. I kind of looked for any directions, but didn't need them ; FAST

not a great drive

Ok I am running XP SP3 with 4GIGS of RAM and T9500 CPU, overall I am not very Impressed. My system boots very fast but the writes is not worth it. I hope to get a better unit.

Fast Booting, XP boots less than 10 seconds, fast reads, data is ok

Slow writes not only that often times when I am on a website the unit will just lock in write mode. Outlook OST - forget it, the system will be writting forever

Buyer Beware

I contacted the G Skill customer support about this issue. Id like to replace it, but whats the point if they send me the same sdd with the same controller and the same issue. It would just mean a lot of wasted time backing up files. I asked if I could...

This sdd is really fast, especially coming from a standard hdd. Your OS will boot in record time and apps will load almost instantly. So whats the problem...? JMicron

After about 3-4 months of usage, you'll begin to notice the annoying freezes. It stops working for a few seconds at a time and for no reason. I did some research online and its pretty well known now that the controller is bad and causes this issue

Nice, but not without a catch.

On both the forums at Gskill and OCZ, there are tweaks that you can use to take advantage of the speed capabilities of this disk. The tweaks listed on the OCZ forum are not for the novice computer user and are more numerous then the tweaks on the...

Well, it's a solid state disk. At the time I ordered it, this had the best rating. I had no problems with installation. It increases the OS load time depending on the circumstances. It's got no moving parts, and it will make your laptop battery last...

Well, it's an MLC solid state disk. Without the proper tweaks, Windows XP will lag, especially when all the programs load up. This behavior under Windows XP is by design, so the write speed is less than desirable

Data corruption after 5 months

I will not return this for a replacement. I do not trust any vendor with my data so save your cookie-cutter responses for someone who doesn't care about their data. I lost money on this, hopefully I'll be more lucky next time. I still trust G.SKILL...

Faster than IDE (usually). Worked OK until today. Disabling write-cache solved lag issues

I originally gave this drive 5/5 eggs but today the serious data corruption began. I use(d) this drive to house read-heavy applications with write-cache OFF. Everything was fine until about an hour ago. 3 massive crashes due to corrupt files, lots of...
