Polar Grit X review: heavyweight outdoor watch packed with training and recovery features

 

A high end military grade multisport watch, the Polar Grit X offers so many features that any athlete, from any sport, will be blown away by the diverse features it offers

Multiple functions that help you navigate training, recovery and relaxation ; Durable construction ; Trail-specific features

Hefty price tag, especially if you go for a non-standard strap ; Not the most comfortable watch to wear during the night

There are many features and training tools to love on the Polar Grit X, especially the extra insights that trail and mountain athletes are going to benefit from, such as Hill Splitter, FuelWise and WeatherWatch. Weighing 64g, it’s lighter and smaller...

Polar Grit X review: Going the distance?

 

Polar's first 'outdoors watch' has the usual spate of fitness tracking, but also adds fuel replenishing monitoring and mountaineering smarts.

Light design gives it more running watch feel ; Useful fuelling smart assistant ; Reliable sports tracking

Navigation features bit underwhelming ; Buggy Hill Splitter feature ; Battery life drain outside of tracking

As a sports watch option for the lovers of the outdoors, the Grit X does a decent job of it, but there’s certainly room for some of its more unique features to grow. Hopefully they will.

No maps for navigation ; Heart rate lags and surges ; Limited every day battery life

If you’re an urban dweller who occasionally ventures into the wild for longer endurance adventures, the Grit X packs a lot of strong features for the price

This Polar Grit X review explores the fitness tracker's features, comfort, accuracy and more to determine whether it is a great wearable.

Lots of useful health insights ; Huge variety of sports profiles ; Rugged ; Fleshed out health tracking ; Incredible battery life ; Training recommendations

Extremely limited smartwatch features ; Interface can be unintuitive ; No automatic activity detection ; Sleep detection can be hit or miss ; Somewhat large and potentially uncomfortable ; Not as accurate as some of the competition ; A little pricey

The Polar Grit X is a comprehensive and mostly accurate fitness tracker, but may not appeal to more casual users.
