A basically very good home cinema projector with a couple of flaws
Bright, colour-rich pictures, Reasonable value, Optical image shift
High input lag for gaming, Black levels only fair, Noisy colour wheel

The Optoma HD50 produces a bright, punchy picture but does it deliver big-screen thrills?
Punchy, bright picture ; Vibrant colour palette ; Crisp detail ; Compact build
Rivals are more subtle ; Remote control has lag issues ; 3D flickers ; No built-in speakers
It’s not the perfect home cinema experience, but there’s plenty to like about the Optoma’s rich, bright and colourful approach

The astounding Optoma HD50 makes hi-def projection cool again
Razor-sharp 1080- pictures ; No overt DLP rainbow effect ; Plug and play simplicity
3D an optional extra ; No onboard sound system ; At 29dB it's not the quietest

It offers greater contrast and higher brightness than its predecessor, the HD30, along with a number of image processing and operational refinements. It is, not to put too fine a point on it, a bit of a belter.
The Optoma HD50 comprehensively over delivers on its upper budget price tag. HD images are exceptionally detailed, making this an ideal partner for a set-top box, Blu-ray player or next-gen games console. Operating noise is our chief remaining...

Optoma target the home cinema market with their new HD50 DLP projector.
Excellent image accuracy ; Detailed pictures ; Very good motion handling ; Image has plenty of brightness ; Impressive 3D performance ; Lens Shift ; Competitive price
Black levels could be better ; Out-of-the-box image could be more accurate ; Possible rainbows
The Optoma HD50 represents an interesting choice for anyone thinking of taking the logical step from big screen TV to even bigger screen projection. It has an attractive but minimalist design, with a simple white plastic chassis and a decent level of...
