Sony Walkman NW-A800 2GB review

Sony gets back to doing the simple things well

Good interface and software Decent picture quality

Diminutive controls Too much screen glare

Sony has done well here, cramming a lot of features and functionality into a remarkable compact device

Sony Walkman NW-A800 2GB

At last, a sign that Sony is recovering from the insanity that has gripped it over the last few years. This flash-based Walkman has, counter to recent tradition, both a pleasantly usable interface and decent desktop software.

Good interface and software, Decent picture quality

Diminutive controls, Too much screen glare

Sony has done well here, cramming a lot of features and functionality into a remarkable compact device

Sony NW-A806

Sony's NW-A806, despite adopting a similar design to the iPod Nano, offers enough to suggest it is taking video content seriously with a large 2in high resolution display. You'll find a decent range of features here that combine audio, photo and video...

Excellent display, great audio performance, slimline design

Poor support for drag and drop, limited format support

Sony - NW-A806

Where other companies have attempted to usurp Apple's dominance of the MP3 player market by offering alternative features such as video playback, higher capacities and cheaper prices, Sony is the closest yet to taking it on ...

Sony really has done something pretty impressive with the new A800 series, the highlights being the superb audio quality and excellent colour display. You really can't ask for more control over your media or for a better environment to do it justice....

Sony NW-A806 Walkman

Were it not for crazy pricing, the A806 would've walked it in for an Editors' Choice award. As it is, it's still a great nano competitor with sound Apple would kill for and video playback to boot.

Sound quality impressive ; Looks the goods ; All metal body more delectable than it looks ; Brilliant screen great for photos and videos

but let down by dour colour scheme ; Interface has some kinks ; PC software still pretty rubbish ; Price

Despite the niggles that we found -- like the interface kinks and mediocre software package -- we would've given the A806 a nine-plus score and affixed a shiny Editors' Choice badge on its metallic posterior, were it not for its high retail price. With...

Sony NW-A800 Review

Sony offers with the new NW-A800 series Walkman a new digital audio and video player in the iPod nano size range. What catches the eye right away is the large screen. That is no accident as Sony focuses on video playback on this small player. The Sony...
