Part iPhone wannabe and part Windows Mobile business handset, does the Toshiba Portégé G810 strike a happy medium?

Lots of software and good touch controls help bring the Portégé G810 above the average marker
A miniUSB headset connector is unforgivable, and its looks won?t appeal to all

Toshiba's Portégé G810 looks like a fairly ordinary Windows Mobile device, but it has some good points, including well-implemented touch-sensitive buttons and HSDPA…

Toshiba's Windows Mobile Portege G810 is reviewed. Does its Toshiba mask make it an HTC Touch beater?
HSDPA and HSUPA data support ; Responsive touch sensitive keypad ; Runs on latest version of Window Mobile 6.1 ; Fully featured with WiFi and GPS
No decent navigation software installed ; Quirky touchscreen ; Not available through subsidised operators ; Pretty chunky in comparison to competitors
A fantastically-featured smartphone running on Windows Mobile 6.1. Usability isn't the most advanced, but it's a good option if you're after GPS, WiFi, HSDPA and HSUPA all in one device.

I wish I could rate the hardware and software separately. The hardware isn't great for the most part - it exhibits horrible battery life, poor design, and cheap construction. That's a shame, because in terms of features and performance, this is a...

Another first-hand experience I had with Toshiba's new G810 Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone, the Japanese mobile phone specialist unveiled today. With support for both HSDPA and HSUPA the user can surf the web and download and upload pictures...

Trends come and go in fashion and in consumer electronics. Take touch screens: now the rage thanks to the iPhone, though they've been around for a decade in Windows Mobile and Palm OS handhelds and (more recently) phones. But there is a difference,...
Great looks, light and not too large. For a gloss touch-screen phone, the screen doesn't get as mucked up with fingerprints compared to similar phones. Excellent touch screen coupled with excellent Spb touch-friendly software titles that enhance...
Incoming call volume is a bit low and voice quality on both ends isn't as good as most HTC PDA phones and smartphones. Camera capture time is slow at highest resolutions. Video capture isn't nearly as impressive as still shots. Speaker isn't very loud...
It's not the perfect smartphone, but then there isn't one out there yet. It does offer a very pleasing combination of style, portability, a great touch screen and a full set of features for the power user: GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio and a 3...
