The mobile phone industry moves so fast that unless you are on the cutting edge when it comes to developing the latest models, you can easily get left behind. This might be Toshiba's first smartphone, however that doesn't mean you have to want to want it.

The Toshiba G500 may be an older WM5 device with a chunky design, but it does offer a hi-spec features list and a unique finger print recognition system for around £200 - sim free.

In conclusion, the Portege G500 is a reasonable re-entry into the smartphone arena by Toshiba however to get the full benefit of the device it needs to be treated as a Toshiba Laptop companion as which it should be excellent.
