An understated mobile phone for the masses
Stylish design ; Slimline metal casing ; HSDPA ; 1GB internal memory ; Great music player ; Earphones supplied with 3.5mm headphone adapter ; 3-megapixel camera ; Good battery life ; FM radio
Camera lacks autofocus and has ordinary LED flash ; Average quality earphones supplied ; Display could be larger ; Poor quality video capture
Stylish slimline candybar handset with good quality mid-tier features and fine build quality

A stylish handset with decent entertainment and internet features
A rather basic music player and slightly clunky messaging menu

A stylish handset with decent entertainment and internet features
A rather basic music player and slightly clunky messaging menu

The Samsung U800 Soul is a wonderful low to mid market phone. Although not rich in many of today's must have features it does not claim to be anything other than it actually is.

We review the Samsung U800, the ultra-thin candybar relation of the Soul, and see if this HSDPA equipped, 1GB-packing handset has the right touch
Ultra-slim and elegant design ; Solid-feel metal casing ; HSDPA high-speed multimedia capabilities ; 1GB internal storage plus MicroSD card expansion ; 3 megapixel camera with flash ; 3.5mm headphone jack adapter on decent earphones
Doesn't have Soul's touch control capabilities ; Average screen ; Camera has no autofocus; images unexceptional ; No Wi-Fi
A super-thin, classy looking handset that combines a decent mid-tier set of 3G multimedia features and a reliable performance

The U800 measures up at 111x46x9.9 mm and weighs 91 grams – all in all, it's not a petite phone, but not a behemoth either. It won't weigh you down, however it delivers a nice feeling of heaviness. Coupled with its metallic accents (that is, rear...
The display accommodates up to 9 text and 3 service lines. All fonts are large and very readable; the same goes for SMS and dialing screen

Inspiration is one thing you can't deny the Samsung Soul lineup. Well, that goes to the Ultra too, though all of them thin and sexy handsets are pretty much doomed to oblivion by their own offspring. Back in the day, we said the original U900 Soul was...
2.0" 16M-color TFT LCD display of QVGA resolution ; 3G with HSDPA (3.6Mbps) support ; 1GB of onboard memory, microSD expansion ; Nice and responsive D-pad ; Cool brushed metal casing ; Just 9.9mm thickness ; 3 megapixel camera with LED flash ; FM radio...
Tri-band only ; Camera has no auto focus ; Somewhat slow interface response ; Slow first-time access of the microSD card ; Limited browser capabilities ; QCIF video recording at most
