2015 wasn't a great year for HTC phones. While the company's flagship HTC One A9 smartphone looked great, it was overpriced and offered middle-of-the-road hardware. Then the company disappointed everyone by not unveiling the HTC One M10 at MWC.

A cheap phone which fails to cash in
Low price ; Solid build ; Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Drab display ; Slow performance ; Limited storage
The HTC Desire 530 is a sluggish, entry-level Android phone that simply cuts too many corners to be worth considering.

They call this smartphone the captain of cut corners
Neat-looking dotty back ; 16GB storage ; Decent-enough screen
Feels slow ; Mediocre cameras ; Non-stereo speakers ; Disappointing stamina for its size
A phone that cheaps-out too often and ends up being little fun to use

HTC didn't launch a new flagship smartphone at MWC 2016, but the company did introduce the HTC Desire 530, it's latest budget smartphone. The budget smartphone market is much fiercer now than it once was, so does the Desire 530 have what it takes? Read...
Aside from the interesting design, there's nothing particularly outstanding going on with this entry-level smartphone. We’re actually pretty disappointed with the spec, as the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and GPU used are featured in smartphones 2-3...

HTC invites you to 'make a splash' with its HTC 530, which has an unusual paint-splattered design on the casing. We put it to the test to find out whether there are any standout features on this mobile phone, aside from its looks. The results reveal...

The HTC Desire 530 aims for cheap and cheerful, but only really hits one of those targets
The HTC Desire 530 is a disappointment. It looks the part, and the screen is pretty decent for a £120 handset, but things fall apart as soon as you use the thing for any length of time. It’s laggy, sluggish and has a distinctly average camera.

We don't know the exact price as yet, but this is a fairly admirable entry / mid-level handset.
Funky design, lightweight and well put together this. It grabs and holds the phone signal well and the screen – although perhaps not up to higher-spec competitors – is better than most low-end devices. The lack of an LED notification light and the...

One flagship and three mid-range smartphones. That's what HTC brought to the MWC 2016 table and here are our first impressions of the devices.

The HTC Desire 530 is an affordable MetroPCS phone with a decent camera, but it's held back by slow performance and a dim screen.

Everyone's Desire? HTC offers a new smartphone in the 200-Euro (~$222) category. The Desire 530 aims to impress buyers with a unique design, decent cameras and unusually good sound among other things. Our test reveals whether the smartphone can fulfill...
micro-SD card can be used as system storage ; latest Android Marshmallow ; accurate touchscreen ; reliable GPS module ; LTE support ; good call quality via earpiece ; good sound via headset jack ; decent battery life ; smooth to use Android user interface
total performance below average ; relatively big casing ; primary camera quality middling ; quiet microphone in hands-free mode ; WiFi only in 2.4 GHz band ; no Miracast, MHL or USB OTG support ; no notification LED ; non-removable battery ; screen's...
Whether HTC's attempt at making a unique design statement with the Desire 530 has been successful is probably a matter of taste. Regardless of that, the casing pleases with its decent build and good hardware buttons. However, it hardly conveys a...
