BenQ-Siemens has the Motorola V3 RAZR firmly in its sights with the EF81

If you want a stylish clamshell camera phone look no further
Eye-catching design
Flaky software ; Lack of features
It's rather a case of style over substance, unfortunately

With a new brand, comes three swanky new phones, but can BenQ-Siemens flagship model, the EF81 deliver the goods? We managed to get a first look at the launch of the new handset in Berlin.
Looks, features, tough
Looks like the RAZR from Motorola

The EF81 is an appealing sequel with a thin metal case and backlit keyboard and, with a 2MP cam and Bluetooth connectivity, it's not to be sniffed at

BenQ and Siemens have plumped for a design that mimics the looks of the highly popular Motorola Razr phones. The clamshell does look good, but doesn't work that well as a camera phone
Eye-catching design
Flaky software, Lack of features
It's rather a case of style over substance, unfortunately

Siemens Mobile division, over the past half-year of existence, has developed and released a number of products, at that the main aim, in order to maintain fading away sales, was copying a successful opponent. Though for this role, for some reasons the...
The battery's cover is just one more occasion to make certain that all good ideas are worth their weight in gold the design precisely copies the original RAZR solution, and it's good to see when there are some standards which are observed. The only...

It was something of a fall from grace considering that way back in 2000, the SL45 was the handset to be seen with, while the SL55 practically invented the slider form in 2003.
The EF81's feature set is in line with its high-flying 3G counterparts but it's the authentic material handiwork that sets it apart.
The keypad design is hardly original, the music player interface can annoy and the camera lens could have sharper focus, but these are hardly major concerns.

The BenQ-Siemens EF81 is a very desirable & slim 3G mobile phone which comes with a beautiful clamshell opening mechanism. The handset is very small in size & measures 94 x 51 x 15.9 mm which make it very slim & stylish. The handset comes in a titanium...

Prior to the merger with BenQ, Siemens produced some good quality mobile phone handsets, so we were looking forward to seeing some new units. The EF81...
Industrial design, Display, Solid features list
Sluggish interface, Long load times, Poor hinge, Flat keypad, SIM card slot
The EF81 is a decent 3G offering with a solid features set, but users will be frustrated by its slow user interface and sluggish load times.

BenQ-Siemens officially released their new slim clamshell EF81 on the market. A lot has been said about it resembling Motorola V3x. Indeed, the new BenQ-Siemens does look like a RAZR and many people would definitely take it for a V3x by mistake when...
