Sling Media Slingbox Pro-HD review

There's no HDMI input, the web interface can be slow and we wish it had wireless networking, but it's still an easy way to stream video content over the internet.

The Slingbox Pro-HD is a very specialised device. The lack of HDMI inputs could be a problem for those with modern Sky or cable boxes, but it’s useful if you want to watch Freeview over the internet. £250 buys a lot of TV shows from iTunes, though.

"Buyer Beware!! Slingbox software updates are a scam!"

If you are considering buying a Slingbox PLEASE do your research before you buy!! A good place to start is slingbox's own answer forums (%s ). Search for "firmware update" or "software update" and you'll find dozens of instances of updates causing...

Does allow placeshifting as long as the unit is in warranty.

Once your slingbox unit is out of warranty you'll receive a software update that causes your product to stop working. Either pay the $29.95 tech support fee (potentially EACH time a software update comes out) or enjoy your new paperweight.

I LOVE my SlingBox

Simply the best way to access your home TV (and the DVR or just about any other video source) from just about any wireless device.

watch TV from any internet connected device. How many more pros do you need? There have been 4 critical news issues I was able to watch in real time because of being able to connect to my TV at home from work.

One of mine,I have 2,is an older one and every time I start up the viewer it threatens not to work. So far it has worked every time but it is annoying that it might go away. But I understand they can't keep up with one I bought back around 2000 :))

Sometimes is actually works

Save your health and your money and wait for someone to build a reliable device.

When it works its great.

Usually doesn't work. I've wasted an enormous amount of time trying every possible thing to get it to work. Sometimes it will work as advertised and I think I've fixed it and then the next time it won't work. 90 days support then $30 paid support

Great device when it works...buyer beware!!

I've only had my box 3 month and i had a problem with the ethernet port not working. Long story short, after several calls and 1 month later, still no resolution. All i have to show for: -3 new power adaptors -2 replacement unit (actually, waiting on...

Excellent way to watch or catch up on recorded your shows for ppl that are on the go.

Freezes from time to time but most likely a problem with internet connection, so no big deal. Remote control option when watching on my iphone is difficult and not very responsive, better to watch on desk/laptop.

Best EVER!!

Without a doubt, the BEST paperweight I've ever owned! Take it to the bank. If not for this product, I would have never discovered better internet bandwidth, (which doesn't help SLBX PRO-HD).

I can't think of any, unless you don't mind spending $200 plus on something that works about 7% of the time. If you can get past that, you've hit the grail!
