Teac NS-X1 AirPlay Speaker Dock

Slim, affordable, stylish and AirPlay equipped so why does it all go so horribly wrong?

Just 55mm thick ; AirPlay enabled ; Internet Radio

Poor, muffled sound quality ; Cheap build materials ; Overly expensive for performance

, network keys and have to restart the NS-X1 a number of times. It must be stressed this isn't Teac's fault, it is an inherent flaw in AirPlay at this time though one we can see less tech savvy users struggling with.

TEAC NS-X1 review

The TEAC NS-X1 is a stylish and versatile AirPlay dock, but too expensive

Great feature set ; elegant design ; wall-mountable ; easygoing sound

Needs more bass ; can get ill-defined with more complex material

The TEAC NS-X1 is a stylish, versatile and reasonable-sounding system, but a shade too costly

TEAC NS-X1 review

Teac's NS-X1 might not have a name that rolls off the tongue, but it's one of the better-looking audio streamers we've seen. Its silver and black finish is reasonably stylish, even if it is mostly made from plastic. It's also very compact, so you...

A great design can't save the NS-X1's other failings

Teac has added a lot of features to the NS-X1 and, unfortunately, it seems to have neglected both build and sound quality in the process. £200 is a significant amount of money that we think would be better spent on the

TEAC NS-X1 AirPlay speaker system review

Latest in the ever-lengthening list of streaming devicescompatible with Apple's AirPlay technology is the TEACNS-X1, designed as a portable radio, iPod dock and streamer combowith built-in amp and speakers.

Neat design, AirPlay, wall mountable

Remote could be better specified, sound is decent but notspectacular

The TEAC NS-X1 is a neat little iPod dock, internet radio andmusic streamer but it's AirPlay that helps it stand out. It's notthe cheapest AirPlay dock, but it's certainly not the mostexpensive either and offers a pretty good sound for its pricepoint.

Teac NS-X1

Good idea, looks pretty good, when it works it's just what I wanted.

So many bad points that it's now being returned, I really wanted to like this product and gave it every chance. 1. It's slow - turning it on, choosing a favourite internet radio station and actually getting sound out of it takes about 20 seconds. All...

Airplay

FM reception no good - Internet radio doesn't play many, many of the stations listed (format error). Could do with it's own iPhone app.
