Sony KD-65XG9505 review

Not far off flagship performance for much less than flagship money

Detailed, nuanced images ; Bright, vibrant and natural ; Excellent motion ; Innovative sound solution

Blacks could be deeper ; Some backlight blooming ; Poor viewing angles

It isn’t perfect but, for the price, the XG9505 is a great TV

Sony XG95 (KD-65XG9505) review: Dazzling impact that OLED TVs can’t match

Across-the-board improvements made this one of 2019's best 4K LED LCD TVs

Class-leading motion performance ; Excellent video processing, especially when upscaling less-than-perfect sources

Limited viewing angles ; Reflective screen ; Some blooming around bright objects

The Sony KD-65XG9505 offers some worthwhile upgrades over the outgoing XF90, including four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.0b inputs, reduced input lag, more calibration controls, enhanced eARC, better Android TV navigation and – last, but by no means least – a...

Netgear Orbi RBK50V (Test) – audiovision

Thomas Stuchlik

Sony XBR-X950G series review:

Sony's 2019 TVs have more Google smarts than any TVs since, well, Sony's original Google TV nine years ago. The XBR-X950G boasts the latest version of the Android TV smart TV system and, unlike past iterations, it works quickly and allows plenty of...

The Sony XBR-X950G's Android TV system is quick, comprehensive and easy to use, and hands-free Google Assistant works great. Styling is sleek and modern. It has a bright image with accurate color and punchy HDR.

Overall image quality lags behind Samsung, Vizio and TCL TVs at this price and lower, with worse contrast caused by lighter black levels and more blooming.

The Sony XBR-X950G's smart TV and Google Assistant integration work beautifully but its competitors perform better and cost less.

A Review of The Impressive Sony 2019 X950G 4K HDR LCD TV (XBR55X950G) (XBR65X950G) (XBR75X950G) (XBR85X950G)

Sony's first release of their soon to be extensive 2019 TV lineup is the X950G and if it broadly represents the quality we can expect from the rest of this brand's 2019 premium 4K UHD TVs

• Sturdy design • Exceptional color rendering for normal and HDR content • Amazingly good motion handling, especially for gaming • Very robust contrast ratios and black levels • Voice control features and very rich smart TV functionality

• Local dimming has a few minor issues • VA display technology deteriorates picture performance at sharp angles • No HDR10+

The bottom line for the X950G is that while it’s somewhat on the expensive side (it is after all a brand new high “mid-range” 4K TV release), we liked it very much in almost every regard.

Sony X950G

The Sony X950G is an impressive 4k TV with great picture quality. It can display deep blacks in a dark room thanks to the high native contrast ratio and full array local dimming support. It can get very bright and delivers great HDR performance full of...

It can get very bright Amazing out-of-the-box color accuracy Great motion handling

Review: Sony XG 9505 (KD-75XG9505) | Sony's Best LCD Pumps Adrenaline Sony XG 9505 (KD-75XG9505)

Sony XG9505 impresses with its raw contrast and intense colors, which provide phenomenal picture experiences.

Wide viewing angle, beautiful color reproduction and convincing contrast. Good format support.

Not as high brightness as the best. Slightly shiny front glass gives light reflections. Slim sound requires a soundboard for maximum counting.

Sony X950G 75-inch Android TV Review

The Sony X950G 75-inch Android TV is one of the larger TVs we've reviewed, and it joins a growing selection of 4K TVs that go above and beyond the 65-inch screen size that has become today's standard. Many people will be attracted to the X950G for the...

Sleek design with built-in cable management Strong feature set Built-in Chromecast Android TV 8.0 is excellent Improved remote control

Backlighting shows prominent halos Volume and bass are on the weak side

Worth considering, as the Sony X950G Android TV is pretty good, especially in the larger sizes.

THIS SONY TV DELIVERS AN INCREDIBLE PICTURE—BUT IS IT WORTH THE PRICE?

The X950G is a big, bright, backlit 4K TV with full-array local dimming, HDR support, and an impressive spec sheet. Although it's one of the better TVs we've tested so far this year, some of its problems are worth considering before you fork over the...

For all of its foibles, the X950G is a great TV that'll impress both casual viewers and AV enthusiasts alike. It's an especially good option for folks who are planning on putting a new TV in a bright room, or for those who just want their next TV to be...
