LG 55EC930V review

Behind closed doors, in LG's high-security Seoul HQ, dubbed The Twin Towers, there's a white board screaming the message ‘2015 is the year of OLED!' It's underlined three times in red marker. There's a smiley face drawn alongside.

Lush, vibrant images; perfect pure black; WebOS smart platform; ultra-thin design.

Sparkles aside it's not overly bright; curved screen divisive; single tuners limit interaction; Full HD resolution.

Overall, the LG EC930V is an intriguing proposition, offering a level of depth and vibrancy that hasn't been seen before. If you’re looking for eye-candy you’ll find it in spades. There are several image caveats, and the relatively high price pitches...

LG 55EC930V TV review: Throwing an OLED curveball at 4K competitors - Pocket-lint

-

Incredibly deep blacks, outstanding colour, excellent contrast, webOS, great design

Some judder, only comes in curved format, expensive compared to 4K competitors

The LG 55EC930V is a tempting OLED proposition. It has the ability to offer some of the best visuals you'll get from any current TV. The blacks are staggering, the colours are inspiring and the contrast is amazing. That's praise we're happy to heap on...

LG 55EC930V OLED review

Second generation 55-inch curved LG OLED makes Full HD fashionable again

Dynamic images ; Deep vibrant colour ; Great webOS Smart platform ; Clean immersive 3D

Expensive for 1080p ; Limited catch-up ; Single tuner ; Curved panel

Ratings in depth For time immemorial, OLED has been heralded as the future of TV. Brighter, bolder, thinner and prettier than LED LCD and plasma combined, it seemingly has everything going for it.

LG 55EC930V OLED review

LG's first affordable OLED TV has outstanding black levels but the 55EC930V's colour accuracy isn't as good as we'd hoped

LG 55EC930V OLED TV review

Forget the 4K future - this is the ultimate TV for right now

Inky deep blacks ; Excellent contrast ; Gorgeous, curvy design ; Slick interface

No 4K ; Sound could be better

4K might be the future, but this LG OLED is the most amazing TV you can buy right now

LG 55EC930V review

OLED becomes affordable – and it's lovely.

Deep blacks Punchy colours Wonderful clarity That curve

No 4K Could sound better That curve

The LG 55EC930V can’t do 4K. And while it would be tempting to knock it for this reason, we won’t. Currently, there is very little 4K content – save for the two TV series on Netflix and the odd video on YouTube. There’s no telling when more content...

LG 55EC930V

It may not be 4K, but OLED tech makes this an awesome HD TV

Unprecedentedly good black-level response ; Spectacularly vivid colours ; Surprisingly affordable for OLED

It's not 4K ; Some slightly flawed processing ; Some motion issues, especially with 3D

We recommend turning off the Dynamic Contrast system for reasons we'll discuss later, and we felt the need to use LG’s TruMotion processing to stop the image losing clarity over motion. Alhough we’d only recommend the latter's Clear setting or a custom...

LG 55EC930V (EC930) OLED TV Review

LG's latest Full HD OLED TV - the 55EC930V - delivers stellar pictures, passive 3D and a state-of-the-art smart system at an incredible price.

Absolute black levels ; Reference dynamic range and contrast ratios ; Accurate picture out-of-the-box ; Excellent video processing ; Superb 3D performance ; Reference features and smart platform ; Very good build quality ; Great sound ; Fantastic price

Calibration controls faulty ; Motion resolution around 400 lines with TruMotion off

If you're in the market for a Full HD OLED TV then the simple answer is yes because at £1,999 you'd be crazy not to buy one. The 55EC930 isn't quite as impressive as the 55EA980 that we reviewed at the start of the year and there are a number of issues...

LG 55EC9300 (OLED TV)

Last year, LG introduced the EA9800, which was the first OLED TV in a living room format. As you might have noticed by now, OLED technology is predicted a grand future. LG is now launching its second-generation OLED TV, a curved 55-inch 55EC9300...

Fantastic picture quality ; Perfect black level ; Colors ; webOS is promising ; Virtually perfect viewing angles

Curved panel ; Motion reproduction not great ; High input lag ; webOS too slow ; Poor sound quality

LG EC9300 (EC930V in Europe) is the second-generation OLED TV from the South Korean TV maker, and one of the biggest updates is the webOS platform. Unlike many other Smart TV platforms, webOS feels as the actual TV platform. It is integrated deep into...

LG 55-inch curved OLED (55EC930T) TV review: The future of OLED is bright

Fantastic colour production, promising smart TV software and stunning design are hallmarks of LG's 55-inch OLED television

Excellent colour production ; Deep blacks ; Stunning design ; Fantastic WebOS software makes smart TV features simple to use

Limited gamut with blacks ; Small application ecosystem ; No future support for WebOS 2.0
