Yamaha PDX-30 review

When it comes to looks and performance, this Yamaha dock does it big and bold

Sturdily built ; choice of colours ; big, bold sound ; happy to go loud (ish)

Sacrifices midrange resolution in favour of prodigious bass ; restrained at the top end

If you like big, bold looks and big, bold sound, this Yamaha's a perfect fit

Yamaha PDX-30 review

An excellent speaker set, but at questionable value for money

Powerful, meaty speakers ; Looks the part

Lacks versatility ; No dock adaptors included

A beautifully warm, rich and detailed sound, but limited features

Reviews: Yamaha PDX-30 Portable Player Dock for iPhone

Yamaha wasn't a major iPod speaker maker, but with the recently-released four-driver audio system PDX-30 ($200), it's obviously ready to take an aggressive stab at the combined iPod and iPhone audio market, though with a few notable wrinkles. The...

The bad news isn't necessarily awful, but it's not great: Yamaha's sound signature is fairly bass-heavy, and lacking somewhat in the treble department. When heard without a direct comparison to the aforementioned Altec and JBL systems, the PDX-30...

Yamaha PDX30

Looks good and is small. Sounded good until the volume went above 50%. I returned it and bought a Kitsound Boom Box instead, which in my opinion is better than all the Bose docks and costs less than ton.

Sound was terrible. When the volume was turned over half way the bass turned right down and the sound was terrible.

Pretty good sound from the speakers, nice sound detail with a tidy bass sound, nice design and very easy to use with a handy little remote.

None, bass can be a little booming at times.

Yamaha PDX30

Simple to use and looks good. Pretty good value for money. Sound is good enough for the price. Charges iPods and iPhones.

Supports the iPhone on the charger plug. Could be easily damaged if knocked. Would be better if the back of the phone was supported some way.
