B&O Play Beolit 17 review: Boxing clever

When we first hear the B&O Play Beolit 17 we assumed it was a wired speaker. That it can kick out such considerable volume, with smooth low-end bass

Loud and balanced sound quality - especially from a portable battery-powered device ; USB-C port tidies up predecessor product's design issues

Expensive ; App experience can be glitchy ; Not exactly portable (weighs 2.6kg) ; Not perfect 360-degree sound ; Lower volumes sound less cohesive

When we first hear the B&O Play Beolit 17 we assumed it was a wired speaker. That it can kick out such considerable volume, with smooth low-end bass and a considered balance of mid and treble is true testament to the Bang & Olufsen roots to which B&O...

B&O Play Beolit 17

The B&O Play Beolit 17 speaker provides a bass-forward, balanced Bluetooth audio experience at a slightly lower price than its predecessor.

Excellent audio performance with subwoofer-like bass response and clear highs. Attractive, refined design with easy-to-operate control panel. EQ can be adjusted using free app.

Expensive. DSP can squash dynamics at high volume levels and flirts with distortion on deep bass, but only at top volumes.

For $500, the B&O Play Beolit 17 gets just about everything right. Its minor flirtation with distortion only occurs at the very highest volumes on the most challenging deep bass tracks, and even that can be easily remedied with subtle adjustments in...

Insult to my intelligence!

Product ambiguously claims 24 hour battery life, try 1.5 at high volume, and possibly 4 at low volumes. In my opinion this is misselling on the part of the company. This item is poorly executed on so many levels that they cannot be listed. It might...

A great music box

Took a while to settle into the sound as the base frequency has a punch! You can tweak the sound with the app if it's too much . If you can spare the cash over the Beolit 15 this piece of kit sounds great . The sound signature seems to have been...

Bought this to replace a Bose Soundlink Mini II for a therapy room. I was expecting a hard metal case instead was quite shocked to find a cheap plastic casing which made the unit feel like a plastic bucket. I used to do product development and know...
