OCZ IBIS 160Gb SSD features 2 x Sandforce controlled 80Gb SSDs (PCBs) and configured in RAID 0 mode using a Silicon Image RAID controller. These PCBs are then housed in a 3.5 inch anodised Aluminum casing, and features OCZ's new proprietary HSDL (High...

Today we are going to talk about SSDs with PCI –Express interface. This type of devices is free from a common bottleneck – insufficiently fast SATA interface, so this is where we should be looking for a performance leader.
First of all, we want to note the fact that the existence of these three product series is indeed justifiable. The OCZ IBIS series includes top-end products designed for users who need to get a large number of fantastically fast disks into a server...

Today we take a look at OCZ's newest offering in next generation Solid State Storage technology, coupled with a completely new take on storage interface technology. When USB3.0 and even SATA 6Gb/sec are not fast enough, just invent something new!

We never seem to tire of new SSD technologies. The storage subsystem has long been the primary bottleneck with respect to general computer system responsiveness. And as a result, the explosion of Solid State Drives in the market is indicative of the...
Killer all around performance ; Great sustained performance with maintenance algo ; Best of class write performance ; Claimed 2 million hrs MTBF
Price premium over standard SSDs ; Complex design with more possible points of failure
From a raw performance perspective, the OCZ IBIS drive impressed us on many levels. Often times it kept pace and occasionally beat the considerably more expensive Fusion-io ioXtreme 80GB PCI Express SSD card. This one watermark spoke volumes to us...

Wow, took a bit of courage to buy this but what a drive!
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Included drivers and clear instructions are nice, but I got this drive because it is fast. The cons were minor issues.
Fast
uses a pci-e slot ; instructions don't mention the required power cable. Without it I got a pci-e init error ; drivers had to be downloaded, because they weren't included with the package

Get it...well worth it...better than any other SSD out there
Who would care for mobo's speed interface on HDD if you can just plug it to the PCI-e ; This just beats the whole point of companies who add crazy stuff to their motherboards...and i say good job for that
price is a thing to keep in mind...really makes my wallet cry

I wouldn't use this on a mission critical computer, one of my coworkers is going to get the system - lucky son of a blank. I purchased it for a system that has a database on it that was suffering from very long disk write delays. Most people complain...
It is fast, as in... "I needed to do a reboot, but don't remember it rebooting" With some tweaking, I can do a complete reboot, including typing a password over 10 digits, waiting for a DHCP address, and am back on the network in 37 seconds. Files...
Installation went smooth, but I did a weeks work of work reading up and making sure the equipment I ordered was compatible, and a few days reading the OCZ forums hoping I was doing everything possible to get it right the first time. Required a...

Wow where do I begin, you spend that much money on this and they dont even send a disk to help you install it, not even a inst manual, I had to down load that also, then you have to format it for all 4 channels to get it in raid 0, were not done, then...
Really fast when you get it to run
really a pain to get it going, beware when you buy these, Its not a plug and play item, you have to go great extendt to get it up and running, OCZ doesnt send any info with it, no disks, no drivers, no help, I searched for days to get the right drivers...
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Got this working on the 4th PC I tried it on... and even on that it was a couple weeks of trial and error to figure out how to keep it running ... OCZ needs to be telling people about what won't/will work.....or maybe they don't even know. Finally,...
Super fast benchmarks
1) Expensive ; 2) Fussy to install. Installed for use as a boot drive, doesn't like many motherboards, BIOSes, certain PCIe slots on motherboards ; 3) In 'normal' PC work, you won't notice any difference between this and any other fast SSD. Apparently...
