Failed just past warranty

Eh it should have lasted longer, SMART had no beef with it. Stopped showing up in the in the system, then was invisible in BIOS. Power cycle would fix it, but not this time.. luckily I ordered a replacement the last time it went invisible.

It is an SSD

Failed for good just outside of warranty... started failing by being invisible to the system sometimes after about a year

More RMA troubles

I'm trying to find one. Initial RMA process was bad, then was good, now it's really really bad

So, after posting my first review here, I got a quick response from Kingston - I shipped my drive in, and they sent one back next day - awesome! What was really bad is the replacement was bad - like, they didn't even test the replacement they sent me,...

Failed 3 time in about 9 months

I ran ubuntu 10.04 with 10.10's kernel on it for trim support /home, /var, and /root were on a HDD and /tmp was on my ram I used ndiratime and noatime in my fstab file on my ext4 /root partition only writes I put on it were my /root partition I...

Fast ; Cheap ; I got my $10 rebate check in a timely manner ; Excellent RMA Service (it is fast, faster than newegg's fast) ; The second one gave sines of failure (failure to boot occasionally) I was able to make a backup without error

Insanely unreliable ; I never even wrote 16gb to any of these drive before it failed ; 1st lasted a week ; 2ed lasted 7 months ; 3ed lasted 56 days ; You have to pay RMA shipping, but they do ship your replacement via FedEx overnight ; When I setup the...

Inexpensive, small, fast.

hdparm -Tt /dev/sda /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 1738 MB in 2.00 seconds = 868.88 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 382 MB in 3.01 seconds = 126.86 MB/sec dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/zero =1M count=1024 conv=fdatasync,notrunc 1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB)...

Operated 24/7 for close to a year, no issues

Not as fast as current-gen SSD

Reliable So Far

Kingston buys their chips from other companies and engineers their product design, inhouse, I assume. They do a fine job of 100% testing, I'm told. Since they don't make their own chips, they are at a disadvantage to others that do.

Working in my 24/7 DVR without a problem. I do use an external drive for this 14 camera system, so much of the write burden is off loaded. Still, 24/7 operation without a problem so far is earns 5 eggs

None as of this writing. So many negative revues, so I had to write this one positive revue after using it for more than 10 months

Very nice and fast disk

1 year ago this disk is a "cheap" to start testing SSD technology, one year ago the price looks good.

Fast and Quiet (SSDs are expensive technology one year ago) ; 226 MB/s reading ; I set this disk noatime, nodiratime, discard on my Linux Ubuntu box I also set a different elevator, my system boots in 7 seconds ; I got this SSD disk to try the new...

Not so great

Now its mid January 2012 and the drive has failed and is no longer recognizable by BIOS. I see Kingston has a firmware update available for it now that they didn't have last time I had problems with it. If I'm ever able to get the drive recognized...

Worked great when it was working

I bought this as a boot drive for my home Ubuntu based server. I originally bought it at the beginning of June 2011, but didn't assemble the server until a month later. I installed the OS and started setting things up, a day later I was constantly...

Died after 4 months

None

Drive gave up after just 4 months of use. Drive was used in very low read/write application so no real excuse for if dying as prematurely as it did. After doing some digging Kingston recognizes a problem with this drive yet gives you the runaround when...
