Samsung Gear S3 review

There's still a lot to love about the Gear S3

Animated always-on display ; Great activity tracking ; Intuitive interface

Very large on the wrist ; GPS tracking suspect ; Severe lack of apps

Bigger, bolder and more feature-rich than ever, this is a brilliant smartwatch in many ways. It just depends on whether you actually want a digital timepiece - and if you're prepared to pay handsomely for the privilege.

You spin me right round, baby, right round…

Superb styling ; Fantastic fitness features ; Smart software that makes sense on your wrist

Lack of apps at launch ; Not swim proof like an Apple Watch ; Bit on the big side

A few more apps and Samsung might beat Android Wear at its own game – this is a superb smartwatch, if not quite the best just yet

Samsung's best smartwatch so far, but it's already in arrears.

Good battery life. Smart navigation with rotating ring. Good integration of software and hardware.

The software is lagging behind the competition. The size does not fit everyone.

Gear S3 feels like a nice step up from the previous model. It looks more like a traditional watch, regardless of whether you choose the Classic or the Frontier model. It has become better for training, and Tizen now has several well-known apps....

Samsung Gear S3 review

Samsung manages to make each feature in its stacked smartwatch work, making the Gear S3 one of the most enjoyable smart wearable experiences we've had this year.

Great design ; Large display is the best for notifications ; Rotating bezel is a joy to use ; Performance is top notch ; Samsung Pay works well ; Plenty of features and tools make up core experience

Design may not suit many people ; Third-party apps can be buggy ; 4G LTE and calls come at an added monthly price
