Onkyo TX-NR5007 review

We wonder if there's anything Onkyo's TX-NR5007 AV receive can't do

Sophisticated and polished sound ; Excellent scaling to 1080p ; Features galore

No Wi-Fi ; Lacks proprietary anti-jitter

This is the best receiver Onkyo have built and gives the more expensive options something to think about

Onkyo TX-NR5007 AV Receiver Review

Big and powerful. AVForums gets to grips with Onkyo's flagship AVR

High Power ; Flexibility ; Movie Performance ; Rewarding with Music Playback ; Smooth ; Unfatiguing ; Every current feature under the sun

Unit size and depth, measure your AV Rack ; Almost too Complex ; Movie excitement doesn't quite translate to music ; Runs warm, not for enclosed cabinets

Onkyo TX-NR5007 AV Receiver Reviewed

Like all "00" models from Onkyo, the TX-NR5007 has enhanced surround fields with more speakers to create a more enveloping sound experience. When playing music, our reviewer found it "the guitar licks were lively and dynamic, with solid bass depth and...

The new Onkyo TX-NR5007 is a wonderful-sounding receiver with more features and connectivity than anyone could ever need. The nine channels of amplification are customizable to power a full 9.2 system in one room, or a 5.1 system for the main theater...

Onkyo TX-NR5007 AV Receiver Preview

The TX-NR5007 is the flagship model in Onkyo's current receiver line, also known as the "Double-0" series. The features 9.2 channel output allows for customizability in home theater setups. While a 9.2 speaker setup is possible, it's more likely than...

Onkyo TX-NR5007 AV Receiver

This has to be one of the easiest reviews we’ve written of late because to describe all the features all we need do is say: it has everything. And then some. Further it just took out the Sound+Image 2010 Awards for AV Receiver of the Year Over...

Very Nice

I have owned this one since Oct 2009. I had an Onkyo 706B prior to this and have used Yamaha's for last 10's. (The newer Yamaha's just did not have the Features/connections I needed when I bought this. I am a huge Yamaha fan!). I love this reciever!...

Great on screen display. The Calibrated setup mic worked very well. (and very easy) ; Very powerful. 8 HDMI's in and 2 out, (simultaneously). Front HDMI connection. Front and Rear USB connections. Ethernet port ; Very high end Video upscaling for your...

It has a few second delay when switching input resolutions. (minor annoyance). Generates lots of heat even with sound on moderate volumes. (Even has a sticker on top saying "this reciever gets Faily Hot...Don't block the top.." Very heavy, (I...

Onkyo HDMI boards

I bought a different brand with less known issues. And that being said, there are a lot of good Onkyo units out that will not need HDMI board replacement service. DOA's are few.

A lot of pro's but, read below

Some Onkyo's, what percentage, who knows, Onkyo units 1007, 3007, 5007's have faulty HDMI boards & have to be sent in to Onkyo to get them replaced, U pay shipping in. And the DOA's, paperweights, more than there should be that's just poor Quality...

Very Pleased!

- I have to agree with the other reviewers, this unit is heavy (50 lbs). You need to plan ahead with where you will place this. My HT cabinet has glass shelves, and I ended up placing this at the base shelf (below the glass ones). While this worked...

I'm very, very impressed so far. I replaced my Sony STR-DE985 with this unit, and there's just no comparison. The 5007 is a huge step forward for me ; 145 watts/channel ; Front speaker bridging ; THX certification ; HDMI switching ; Ethernet for media...

Runs a little warmer than I had hoped ; Not really a true 'con' for the 5007, but initially I couldn't get my Denon 3910 DVD to play nice with the HDMI switching. After a couple days of searching the web on this, I finally narrowed it down to outdated...

An Expensive PAPER WEIGHT

Make sure you OPEN THIS AND RUN IT for a couple WEEKS straight as SOON as you get it. That way you can RMA it if needed. We were moving and didn't get it unpacked for 2 months (sat in my front room in the orig box) and now I can't RMA it.

NewEgg FAST Shipping and standing behind me

The unit. It just shuts off...all by itself. Went thru several tech support people...finally...Onkyo decided the unit is BAD. Really??? The best unit out there (supposedly) and it just shuts off...even with NOTHING plugged into it. I used to like...
