Onkyo TX-NR545 review

A reasonable amp for those looking to add Dolby Atmos without breaking the bank

Big, large-scale sound ; Nicely balanced ; Decent punch, power and attack ; Dolby Atmos sounds impressive

Lacks detail and solidity

A well-featured, decent performing amp, but no class-leader

So Far So Good

Who says size doesn't matter. Still it is silly to buy a new receiver because my 809 is too big for the new TV console. Other size issues, the 545 doesn't have the big transformers, very light weight; even today sound power still needs a heavy...

Smaller foot print than my NR-809, which is why I bought the 545, the 809 won't fit in my new console cabinet. Easy to setup everything. Surround setup was about the same as the 809, just a different type of microphone. Remote buttons now have a...

Miss the power of the 809, the 545 does not have near the power to rattle windows as the 809, but then I didn't expect it to. GUI has only changed slightly from the 809, not necessarily for the better or worse. Much slower to connect to the NET.

Fantastic A/V receiver

This Onkyo receiver replaced a failing 12-year old Sony A/V receiver -- one old enough it has no HDMI ports -- and I couldn't be happier with the Onkyo. In particular, this receiver is in my home office, and I'm already considering whether it's time to...

- Pretty easy set-up, all of the inputs and speaker connections are very clearly marked - Has those screw-down/banana-plug speaker connections, which I vastly prefer over the spring-clamps - Many different speaker layout options are possible, not just...

- Alphanumeric character input via the remote control is horribly clumsy - Remote control itself isn't the best in the world in terms of layout and usability - The on-screen display is somewhat primitive-looking, in terms of font and appearance - The...

Great receiver

This is a great receiver with great options/capabilities and for the price I doubt it can be beaten. Sound is very good although I am not an audiofile, but with the AccuEQ Room Calibration it does a great job in adjusting speaker output for great sound...

6 input HDMI, supports 4k TV, network capable thru hard wire or wifi, bluetooth, included music & radio apps like spotify, support CEC compliant devices, auto audio set-up and balance for speaker location and room, audio connectors support multiple...

Not a review - Just a link to an owner's manual

I wanted to help by responding to a review but, I saw no option to do so. My only option was to write a review and, that could unfairly alter the product rating as a result. Going forward, hopefully this option will exist in the near future.

I read the reviews on this product and noticed one customer complained about not being to find any documentation on this receiver. The first sentence of the product description indicates it comes bundled with an Acoustimass system. I checked Bose's...

Works Great, Great App, Easy Setup

All the "mod cons", super easy to use, inexpensive. Happy.

Easy to set up and use. The included brief getting started manual in english was all I needed.and got right to the point. Bluetooth was simple. Onkyo app (using Remote 3, for some reason there are 3 onkyo apps named 1,2,3)works great and easy, found my...

For the price, features, and sound quality, tough to beat this unit. No real cons I can think of. Only had it a week, so hope it lasts, but everything is great so far.

Great Entry Level Receiver

I have this setup under a covered porch and it works well for me. 95% of my use I use this is listening to music from my phone via the Bluetooth connection and watching shows via a Roku. I have the receiver connected to a 1080p projector (to a 110'...

None yet... I guess the remote feels a little cheap, but I don't have any issues with it.
