Canon Pixma MP495 review

There's a growing range of printers and all-in-ones for budget or casual users, and Canon has always had a healthy selection of models that won't break the bank. It's newest range includes the MP495 - retailing for £79, it's currently available from a...

Good quality document output, nicely designed, built-in wireless

Photo prints and scans are quite poor, limited connectivity

The MP495 is a available for a very reasonable price and provided document printing is more important that high-quality photo output, is a nice choice for the budget-conscious consumer

A good entry-level all-in-one, but with no memory card slots or camera connection. It does have Wi-Fi, though.

Good value ; Decent speed ; Not the cheapest running costs around

No memory card slot or PictBridge ; Some quality niggles with image printing

Wireless installation is more confused than some, as the setup program only refers to USB or network connections and only mentions wireless when you’re a way down the network route. You have to use the wireless setup cable as a temporary connection and...

Canon PIXMA MP495 review

The Canon Pixma MP495 colour inkjet multifunction printer handles printing, copying, and scanning, and currently it costs just a little more than its cousin, the Canon Pixma MP280.

Although its high black-ink costs will eventually negate your initial savings, that's only with heavy use â€" something the Canon Pixma MP495 isn't designed for. What it does deliver is outstanding output quality for the price.

Although this is one of the cheapest multifunction printers on the market, offering good print speeds, satisfactory print quality and the bonus of Wi-Fi connectivity, the absence of a decent LCD screen, PictBridge port or memory card slots makes it...

A squat black box, this will be unlikely to pass the lounge police – unless they are goth – but it can be used wirelessly, however for those with no fashion taste – like me – I am only interested in quality of printing, copying and scanning.

I used this both via USB and by Wi-Fi and found no real speed difference, the unit overall is reasonably quiet in operation
