Brother - P-touch QL-550

If you need to print address labels, or any other kind of label for that matter, the usual method is to run an A4-size sheet of blank labels through a printer. This is fine if you ...

There's not really much to fault the P-touch QL-550 on. It does a simple job well and comes at a price that puts it easily within the grasp of even the smallest business. If we had to find a fault, it would be that the design is such that labels are...

Brother QL-550 Thermal Label Printer

Printing is quick and smudge free and templates are useful.

The blank labels are a little tricky to get hold of.

Great Label Printer

Light, needs little room. Very quick to print. We have 4 of these at our offices and (since 2006), all 4 have run perfect - no jams, no problems and plenty of labels. In the past 3 years, we've must have printed over 20,000 labels between the 4...

Software is fine - can be a little confusing, but everyone seem learn quickly. The labels can be either low priced or expensive - depending where you purchase them from

QL500

I had tried a number of other label printers previous to finding this one, and none of them would do everything we needed it to do. My end users almost go through withdrawals if they move to a different office that doesn't have one of these on the desk.

I have over 225 of these label printers. In the last 2 yrs, only 1 has failed. They are used daily by all of the escrow people in the offices and they love them. Supplies are easy to get locally (WA & ; OR)

Could use an auto cutter, and wish the software was a little better

Easy To Use, Great For Light Duty

The least expensive label printer Brother currently has (as of this writing). Great for the home user that prints a few a month or the business that prints a few a day. We have two in our business and I keep 4 different kinds of labels. To change sizes...

Drop in cartridges make swapping label sizes a snap. Must use Brother labels, but what you get is a roll of labels on a special roll cartridge. Cartridge has holes on bottom that tell printer what kind of label is inserted so it automatically sets the...

Software can be a bit confusing, especially the Office merge pieces. Documentation was not great so trial and error taught us most of what we know about it. If you print a lot of labels you might want to give up ease of use in favor of cheaper labels....

could be better

i wish it was actually thermal as stated, but it's really some type of ink press thingy (machine presses on special brother paper and it makes text)

Prints fast

You have to buy the paper from brother. By the time you actually get any use from it the cost for paper costs more than the printer

Works great & price is right

I needed a good daily use label printer when I started my PC repair business but did not have much $$$ to throw at it so I went with the QL-500. Also, most of the QL-500 labels were on clearance at my local office supply stores so that saved me even...

This is a very affordable label printer that works great! Once I got a firm grip on the software (which wasn't hard) I use and abuse this printer for all sorts of things. I have recently started printing out barcodes for my business and this unit works...

It appears that the model was phased out and the media is not available locally. That's ok since I seem to buy everything else off the net anyway

Great!

Once you start using it, you'll become a labeling fool.

Makes beautiful labels; changing label types is easy; aligns and feeds labels automatically; label cutter is simple and clean; software is versatile; easy installation (XP)

The label editor software takes a bit of study to use
