ZTE Nubia 5 (unlocked) review

Though ZTE has plenty of low- and midrange devices under its belt, the number of high-end handsets that it releases for the US are few and far between. So when the Chinese-based manufacturer launched the impressively souped-up Nubia 5 and made it...

The competitively priced ZTE Nubia 5 has a polished design, a sharp camera, and a crisp 1080p screen.

The handset lacks LTE and storage gluttons won't dig the device's lack of expandable memory.

Although it doesn't have LTE, the ZTE Nubia 5's impressive specs and reliable performance make it a great value for an unlocked, high-end phone.

ZTE Nubia 5 (Unlocked)

The ZTE Nubia 5 is an affordable, well-built, and well-equipped unlocked Android phone, but its half-baked Android skin really holds it back.

The Nubia 5 supports MP3, FLAC, AAC, OGG, and WAV audio files, but couldn’t play back WMA. For video, there’s MP4 and H.264 support, but no DivX, Xvid, or AVI support out of the box. There’s no microSD card slot and of the 16GB total onboard storage,...

ZTE Nubia 5 review

A solid set of specs and features taken to their logical conclusion and sold for a good price - is that enough to make a sale?

After spending over a week with the device, we think ZTE has put together a pretty impressive package at $450 unlocked for the Nubia 5. The build quality and materials on offer are higher than the price point, and while the design is simple it is...
