Sony is becoming irrelevant in the mobile space. Its high-end phones are increasingly dull and forgettable, highlighted by the recent Sony Xperia X, and it's now falling behind in the mid-range space thanks to the OnePlus 3, Moto G4 Plus and Vodafone...

Does XA beat the XZ?
Slim design ; Simple interface ; Decent selfie camera
Weak battery life ; Disappointing camera ; Screen is only 720p
The Sony Xperia XA is slim and pocketable, but problems with performance and battery life mean there are better choices out there.

Sony used Mobile World Congress to announce a new series of smartphones that will sit below the flagship Z line and above the mid-range M line. The Sony Xperia XA might not be as highly specced as the Xperia X, but that's not to say it doesn't have its...

Sony's recent phones, such as the Xperia X , have been too blocky to be called truly stylish. Not so with the Xperia XA. This 5-inch phone has an edge-to-edge display with only the merest sliver of a bezel. It gives the XA a lusciously premium look...
With a super-skinny bezel, the Sony Xperia XA is a great-looking phone that's comfortable to use in one hand.
Its low screen resolution, short-lived battery and meagre amount of built-in storage are major setbacks. Sony has loaded the phone with a horrible mess of bloatware.
Unless slick style is your only concern, skip the Sony Xperia XA for a cheaper phone with better features.

X marks the spot - unless you want a premium phone. The Sony Xperia XA is a true mid-ranger in every sense of the word
Looks a million bucks, and feels premium too ; Plays nice with microSD cards ; Decent screen for your cash
Moto G4 offers more for less ; Underpowered performance ; Battery life woes
Good looks alone aren’t enough to make this the new champion of the cheap Android phones

Sony Xperia XA review: The cheapest member of Sony's new 2016 X-series of phones looks gorgeous. But is it a case of beauty over brains?
Sexy design ; Decent display ; Dependable cameras
Best Sony features missing ; Occasionally juddery ; Poor battery life
The Xperia XA is a cheap but not-so-cheerful cousin to the Xperia X, and while the gorgeous design promises a slick and affordable smartphone, the Xperia XA sadly loses out to similarly-priced rivals. It can certainly beat them for looks, but when it...

Sony's mid-range Xperia XA phone has a 5-inch display. The octa-core processor means it feels fast and responsive, but does it have the necessary battery life to see you through the day? Read on for our expert verdict.

Ambitious design for a £240 smartphone, but can the rest of the Sony Xperia XA hit the mark?
The Sony Xperia XA is a peculiar mix of the good, the great and the terrible. It looks wonderful and build quality is good. It has a microSD slot, a decent camera and NFC. The price is reasonable, too. This is counterbalanced, however, by below-par...

The smartphone that's Xtremely Average
Reasonably good camera and touchscreen
Poor fit and finish; Questionable aesthetics; Short battery life; Slow performance; Far better value phones available
With so many excellent quality midrange Android phones available, there’s little reason to choose the flawed XA.

The Sony Xperia XA is affordable, but it's not great value, with strong first impressions weakened by a short battery life and underwhelming display".
+ Stylish ; + Strong front-facing camera ; + Octa-core processor
- Only a 720p screen ; - Weak battery ; - Not great value
The Sony Xperia XA impresses in a number of ways, with a high-end design, an edge-to-edge screen, fast charging, NFC and an octa-core processor.
