Sandra gets to grips with the stylish Sony Ericsson W705 Walkman phone.
The Sony Ericsson W705 is a comfortable, well-built and easy to use phone, though it does suffer from that awful headset connector. However, by adding BBC's iPlayer and Wi-Fi to round out its features nicely, Sony has made the W705 an attractive option.

Can the latest midrange Walkman deliver the goods?
Walkman music player ; 3.2 megapixel camera ; 3G ; Wi-Fi ; 3G HSDPA ; Shake control ; FM radio ; Slim design ; Aluminium casing ; Good quality earphones
No GPS ; Back cover feels cheap and plasticky ; No 3.5mm headphone socket on bodywork ; Limited camera
A good handset with some great features that make it easy to access your favourite information but some of the omissions will be a must have for some users

Announced at the European MTV awards at the tail end of last year and for the only reason that they needed something to announce, the Sony Ericsson Walkman W705 has only recently found its way to be included in a network's portfolio. There are a...
Walkman phone with Wi-Fi, good all round music phone
Missing 3.5mm headphone socket, no GPS
For their first Wi-Fi slider handset the W705 is a good inclusion in the arsenal of Sony Ericsson Walkman phones. There’s a decent enough battery life too, with 4 hours of talking or 350 hours of standby which is reasonable for any phone. With some...

Primarily a media phone, the W705 is for those that don't ask too much in terms of the camera or email functionality. It'll impress people, thanks to its shiny good looks. Just don't offer to show them…

Sony Ericsson's latest Walkman phone matches smart looks with improved sound. Can it outdo the classic W890i?
A stylish, highly accomplished and great-sounding music phone. Just don't expect it to take great photos

Sony Ericsson upgrades its Walkman phone lineup with a decently featured, Wi-Fi-packing, head-turner of a sliderphone

Taking on the role of the company's first WiFi enabled Walkman handset is the Sony Ericsson W705 product.
The Sony Ericsson W705 is a slider phone that weighs 98g. In its closed state the handset measures 95 x 48 x 14mm (H x W x D) with the height increasing to 128mm when slid open by a smooth movement under the control of your thumb. The review unit has...

With Sony Ericsson recently announcing handsets that eschew the Walkman and CyberShot brand names, there are still plenty of recent handsets in both categories vying for your attention. One of the more alluring of the Walkman ...
The W705 is a nicely built handset with some good features. If you need GPS or a great camera it might not be the mobile phone for you, but the W715 version at least solves the GPS problem.

This sleek Walkman slider adds Wi-Fi to its regular mix of exellent music features.
Sony Ericsson has got the stylish, sophisticated music phone look off pat, and its smart W705 slider has plenty of appeal. It has a good, solid selection of attractive features, with Wi-Fi connectivity and its fine music player particular highlights....

The W705 is another solid music phone from Sony Ericsson, but its lack of innovation is disappointing…
Great sound quality and music player, wireless file sharing, diverse and fun range of games
Lack of 3.5mm audio jack, gimmicky shake control feature
Verdict A capable, if unoriginal, music phone from Sony Ericsson with a good array of entertainment features.
