Samsung Katalyst (T-Mobile) review: Samsung Katalyst (T-Mobile)

When T-Mobile first launched its HotSpot @Home service in June of 2007, only two phones could support it--the Nokia 6086 and the Samsung SGH-t409 . Soon after, RIM released the BlackBerry Curve 8320 , which became the third HotSpot @Home device. As the...

The Samsung Katalyst cell phone utilizes T-Mobile's HotSpot @Home service to make calls via Wi-Fi as well as regular GSM airwaves. It also has a 1.3-megapixel camera, a music player, and quad-band support. Call quality was excellent.

The Samsung Katalyst has a slippery, flat keypad. It has also a dismal amount of built-in memory, and the microSD card slot is inconveniently located behind the battery.

Despite a few design quibbles, the Samsung Katalyst is a great HotSpot @Home phone with above-par call quality.

Samsung Katalyst

The phone's 2.1-inch, 176-by-220-pixel display supports up to 262K colors. The numeric keypad is nearly flat, but the slightly bubbled keys offer good resistance and accuracy. I also like the large Call and End buttons. Press up on the five-way control...

Stylish design. Comfortable keyboard and button layouts. Wi-Fi calls sound clear and save money. Good battery life, even during Wi-Fi calls

Spotty reception. Difficulty connecting to non-T-Mobile-supplied routers.Middling camera. No stereo Bluetooth

Samsung's Katalyst offers T-Mobile's Wi-Fi calling, but its reception and media options aren't the greatest.

Samsung Katalyst Review

While T-Mobile is finally executing their 3G rollout, for those who wanted to stick with them and get high speed, the only real way was to get their Hotspot @Home service. There are only four handsets available for the service and the one we'll be...

Samsung Katalyst Mobile Phone Review and Prices

The Samsung Katalyst is a unique slider phone that offers the ability to make free calls over Wi-Fi networks. Though the Katalyst does have quite a few other features, it is this service, known as HotSpot @Home, that will attract most consumers....

Consumer review (viewpoints.com)

The Katalsyt is good for basic functions.

The Katalyst is a good fun, but it is definitely not one recommended for "techies" or early adopters. On the other hand, it is not for people who are not big fans of technology and have difficulty understanding how new devices work. The Samsung...
