Compact and rugged, is this the ultimate camping phone?
Relatively rugged build ; Compact Design ; Some nice 'outdoorsy' software tweaks
Not waterproof ; Not much smaller than Defy ; Slow processor
gets round this, so that may be your best choice if this is a major concern.

A new, small, low cost addition to the Motorola Defy family
Small ; DLNA ; Superb music app ; Attractive price
Small screen ; Poor camera ; Problems with Twitter sync ; Short on internal storage
Buying guide20 best mobile phones in the world today Motorola's original Defy was a winner of an Android smartphone for us, marrying solid build with a neat design and some nice software touches. It was followed by a revamped handset, the Motorola...

We reviewed the Motorola Defy+ some time ago, and we didn't care for it. Not at all. So when the Defy Mini arrived, we couldn't see our hearts splitting in half with the love. And we aren't sure why it's called the Defy Mini either, because it's not...
Good sound, rugged enough for most people
Too expensive, underpowered, small screen, quite ugly
There is no reason at all to buy the Defy Mini. Its spec is so underwhelming, that it just can't help but disappoint you. Considering the Defy+ is only another £30, if you really must ignore our advice and get one, you should get the one that is much...

Over in Las Vegas at CES, tucked away in a deep and dark corner of the Motorola Booth, Pocket-lint spotted the Motorola Defy Mini - one of two budget

Honey, I shrunk the Motorola Defy
Durable ; Excellent battery life ; Cheap
Budget internals ; Laggy ; Android 2.3.6
At a recommended retail price of R1,999, the Motorola Defy Mini sets out to be a cheap, rugged, usable smartphone and it tends to succeed at that.

The Motorola Defy Mini is an almost indestructible handset that compromises performance in the name of durability, with some of its specifications outdated by 2012's standards.
Strong and sturdy, reasonable battery
Design is ugly and uncomfortable in hand, poor camera and slow processor, overpriced
The Defy Mini is a physically sturdy smartphone that lives up to Motorola's "life proof" boasts, but at the cost of usability and performance. Packing a low-end 600MHz single-core processor and a 3MP camera means the device's solid battery and robust...

The Motorola Defy Mini is a neat, sturdy device that can survive a bit of rough handling
Solid but streamlined design; typing experience benefits from Swype keyboard; decent price; shock proof
Average snapper, touchscreen is a tad slow at times and stopped functioning when we dunked the phone in water for a minute
It’s funny how you can get attached to a small phone that you are intent on trying to destroy. While it is not quite up there with its older sibling the Defy Plus, you get a good range of features for the price, great battery life and a sturdy handset...

The Motorola Defy Mini seems a little like a solution in search of a problem. It’s a bit tough, but then, not very tough. The water resistance may come in handy, but aside from that it’s hard to see how it can defend itself against the elements more...

The Motorola Defy Mini does what is says on the tin: it's a pint-sized smartphone with life-proof smarts.
Like its larger Defy+ sibling, Motorola's new Defy Mini handset is water-resistant, dust-proof and touts a scratch resistant Gorilla Glass display. Thanks to its tough plastic casing it should also withstand the nastiest of tumbles.

The Motorola Defy Mini has a fairly descriptive title, it is, essentially, a shrunken version of the regular Motorola Defy – Motorla's ‘rugged-ised'
Lightweight, Compact, Reasonable overall performance
Temperamental performance, Inconsistent button controls, Poor display, Some performance issues
Not a bad smartphone but overpriced launch RRP for what it is
