With the 3G market heating up Motorola has announced three new handsets on the 3 3G network. The A1000 is the PDA styled unit that's aimed at the mobile worker, however while that might be the plan for Motorola, 3 seem to have other ideas for it.
Large screen, 3G download speeds, 1.2 megapixel camera
Poor design, bad interface, restrictive
As a standalone phone the device performs below average, yes it may have Bluetooth, a document viewer and 1.2 megapixel camera, but the screen's preciseness was slightly off-sync with the stylus resulting in the frustration of wrong buttons pressed,...

In the UK, mobile phone network 3 has the exclusive rights to the Motorola A1000 PDA phone. This is a handset that, according to Motorola, will "match your ambitions and technology to fuel your dreams" with ...
The Motorola A1000 is a fast, well specified PDA phone and the enormous screen is very impressive. The screen also dictates whether this phone will be any good to you as it makes the phone big and heavy, so if you want to make video calls and movie...

Today smartphone A1000 is the only UIQ-device equipped with a 1.2 megapixel camera. Unfortunately, Motorola cannot provide high quality of the integrated matrixes yet and as a result the photos are not very interesting and lose to the ones taken with...
Unfortunately, the quality of the camera in A1000 is low and it's inferior to many cameras that GSM-devices are equipped with. You should remember that this camera was developed long before such devices appeared mass and evidently that tells upon the...

Motorola has become a pioneer in the UMTS terminals market having released it's A-series models. These devices distinguished in a big size and little working time but were demanded due to the absence of any serious rivals.

This is a review of the Motorola A1000 handset and was undertaken in November, 2004 by Kevin Thomas of 3G.co.uk.
A fluent video streaming performance complements its superb feature set and stunning design.
Alright, the RAZR's wafer-thin profile may have been compromised a tad, but for a 3G phone it's positively svelte.
So the RAZR's put on a little weight. It's still time for you RAZRettes to upgrade. Sharpish.

Motorola's striking A1000 offers a blend of connectivity and performance, but is let down by a short 3.5 hour battery life. This sleek grey-and-silver...
Great screen, good sound, zippy transfer rates
Kludgy input method, short battery life
The A1000 is a fantastic smartphone if you're looking for multimedia playback; it's responsive and features top-notch audio and video. Just don't expect to enter huge amounts of text into it.

All in all this phone is good value for money
For it's time it had good features & an easy layout for the non-stupid
can be slow at times but once firmware updates it speeds up

good smartphone (once you add extra software, memory and features). Handango.com is a great site to download extra software (like Media Maker to convert DVD's etc to compatible files to download onto external memory card). I have downloaded heaps of...
Big screen, great resolution... Pop3 Email, PDF, Excel, Word viewer. Easy to use and navigate. Easy drag and drop media files
Can't set ring tone for sound and vibrate simultaneously (unless you make your own vibrating ringtone - software costs $10 from handango.com). Need two hands to SMS (one to hold phone, one to hold stylus). Video quality not the greatest, but ok for the...

No support for Vista OS, we have 16 and can't sync any to our PCs since upgrading to Vista - if nothing comes of a software upgrade in the next month we'll dump the lot!
