T-Mobile myTouch and myTouch Q review: two budget-friendly phones, one aging OS

More InfoLeaked T-Mobile roadmap outlines Ice Cream Sandwich updates, new myTouch devicesT-Mobile's next myTouch to come from Huawei?T-Mobile

Well-built ; Great battery life

Android 2.3 is quite stale ; Lackluster display ; Subpar camera ; T-Mobile bloatware

While the latest two myTouch devices keep the low price, their medicore performance and aging OS outweigh any strengths.

T-Mobile myTouch Q (Mid-2012)

The T-Mobile myTouch Q is decent starter smartphone with an excellent QWERTY keyboard for messaging aficionados.

Excellent keyboard. Great battery life. Good call quality.

Bulky. Runs an outdated version of Android. Lots of bloatware.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions The myTouch Q comes with 1.97GB of free internal storage along with 754MB of free system storage. My 32 and 64GB SanDisk microSD cards worked fine in the slot underneath the battery cover. A standard-size 3.5mm...

T-Mobile MyTouch Q (Huawei review

Android phones with honest-to-goodness real physical keyboards rarely cross my desk these days. That's why I jumped at the chance to give the new $49.99 T-Mobile MyTouch Q by Huawei a spin. This device is a follow-up to the first MyTouch Q made by LG...

The T-Mobile MyTouch Q has quick 4G data plus a physical keyboard. Its low $50 entry price is compelling. The phone provides good performance on a budget.

The T-Mobile MyTouch Q runs dated Android software. The MyTouch's screen is dark and has poor contrast. The phone is also big and heavy.

If you can live with its dated software and heft, the T-Mobile MyTouch Q is an alluring keyboard slider deal.

T-Mobile MyTouch Q (LG) review

Do you need a solid Android smartphone but don't want to spend a lot of cash up front? If so, then the T-Mobile MyTouch Q could be the device that you're seeking. Owners of aging BlackBerrys in need of a change also should take a closer look at this...

The T-Mobile MyTouch Q offers a satisfying physical keyboard and a fast 4G data connection for people on a budget.

With a sluggish single-core CPU, a pokey 5-megapixel camera, and a low-res display, the MyTouch Q won't impress either gadget hounds or shutterbugs looking to replace their point-and-shoot cameras. Also, the phone is loaded to the gills with bloatware...

If you absolutely crave a physical keyboard and swift 4G data for less, you'll find plenty to like about T-Mobile's MyTouch Q. More selective smartphone shoppers, however, will want to look elsewhere.

T-Mobile myTouch Q

The T-Mobile myTouch Q isn't for power users, but it's a good introduction to Android for budget-minded texters.

Free. Solid keyboard. Good call quality.

Some performance hiccups. No front-facing camera.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions The myTouch Q comes with .95GB of free internal memory along with a preinstalled 2GB microSD card; my 32 and 64GB SanDisk cards worked fine as well. There's a standard-size 3.5mm headphone jack on top of the phone,...

T-Mobile myTouch Q Review

Sharing the T-Mobile shelf with the LG myTouch is the myTouch Q model, where the “Q” simply means it has a physical QWERTY keyboard for entering text – not the character “Q” from Star Trek TNG. The T-Mobile myTouch Q is a bit thick at 0.51” and feels a...

T-Mobile myTouch and myTouch Q review

In a day and age where everyone seems to want the latest and greatest, and nothing short of the best, it can be a rough world out there for entry-level devices. But not everyone is looking for -- or...

When manufactures tag on a QWERTY keyboard they are targeting a device at a very specific market, and that tends to restrict who will be interested. Huawei did a great thing here by offering two options for consumers with the same insides, one...

Review: LG myTouch Q for T-Mobile

T-Mobile gave LG a shot at designing the carrier's next myTouch-branded smartphone and the result is the Q. This sideways slider is appealing and has a solid spec sheet, but one critical flaw throws a wrench into the works.

T-Mobile myTouch Q Written Review by Sydney

So, let's say you're on a budget and you're looking for a good smartphone with a physical keyboard. Or, maybe you're not on a budget, you just want a phone with a QWERTY keyboard and there aren't many options out there. Either way, you've landed at the...

Excellent physical keyboard; Genius Button; 4G; decent camera quality

Poor overall performance; terrible video capture quality

For the price, T-Mobile has better options.
