After some years away, Acer is taking a second roll of the dice on the Windows Phone OS with a variant of its entry-level Z220 handset.

Acer does Windows Phone
Cheapest Windows Phone ; Nice design
Terrible storage ; Average display
Windows Phone is the big headline here, and considering it's the cheapest handset on the platform it may attract some customers for that alone.

Acer extends its reach into Microsoft's world with the Liquid M220, the company's return to Windows Phone ahead of the big shift to Windows 10.
Low price tag ; Excellent battery life ; Compact form factor
Underpowered ; Terrible screen ; Poor cameras

A Windows phone in 2015 not made by Microsoft? Who'd have thunk it?

It seems a few manufacturers are giving Windows Phone another go alongside Android smartphones. Here are our first impressions in our Acer Liquid M220 review from MWC 2015 in Barcelona. Also see Best smartphones 2015.
The Acer Liquid M220 might be cheap but that's all it has going for it really. The phone wouldn't have been all that impressive a few years ago, let alone now. Our initial impression is that you're better off spending a little more on a better Windows...

Acer's first entrant into the Windows Phone world is an amazing little budget phone that won't break the bank. Check out our Acer Liquid M220 review straight ahead!
Design and materials used are great for a budget phone. Windows Phone 8.1 is smooth and a joy to use. Upgradable to Windows 10 Mobile.
Camera isn't the best, display could use a resolution bump, battery life could be better.
The M220 is an amazing phone given the insane price of $79.99. This phone isn’t for the spec hungry, high resolution snob. This phone is for those looking for a nice smartphone to use for basic needs and functions. If you’re looking for iPhone or Nexus...

At a certain point, a deal is so good that certain sacrifices become acceptable, right? That would at least appear to be Acer's philosophy with its first US smartphone offering, the $80 Windows Phone-powered Liquid M220.
Highly affordable ; Great battery life ; Small footprint
3G only ; Poor display ; Mediocre (though not as bad as you’d think!) performance/specs
