Asus TUF Gaming FX504 review: Cheap gaming laptop that compromises too much

There are certainly things to like about the entry-level TUF, but there are also better deals out there for the money.

The Asus TUF Gaming FX504GD-ES51 is an entry-level gaming laptop with a comfortable and extra durable keyboard, easy access to RAM and storage drives for upgrades and generally good gaming performance for its configuration.

Against its similarly priced competition, the base TUF's display is disappointing. It has fewer ports and its hybrid hard drive is a bit slower than laptops with solid state drives.

If you're in the market for an entry-level gaming laptop with an extra durable keyboard, consider the Asus TUF Gaming FX504GD-ES51. Everyone else should keep shopping.

Asus TUF Gaming FX504G

The Asus TUF Gaming FX504G pairs a 1080p IPS display and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti power at an aggressive price. It's a solid budget gaming laptop, but suffers from short battery life.

Good 1080p gaming pep for the price. Crisp IPS display. Abundant storage.

Poor battery life. Touchy touchpad. No GTX 1060 or SSD options. No SD card slot or USB-C ports.

Bottom Line: The Asus TUF Gaming FX504G pairs a 1080p IPS display and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti power at an aggressive price. It's a solid budget gaming laptop, but suffers from short battery life.
