Good for a few months...

Good while it lasted, garbage now.

Well I really enjoyed the system. It was small enough to bring back and forth between college and home, and the sound was pretty good for what I payed. It was loud, and pretty clear with some eq tuning on my computer

BOX IS DEAD!!!! The receiver randomly turns itself off, and completely loses power, as if it weren't even hooked up to any power source at all. I then have to wait several minutes for it to regain power. At first I thought it was because it was...

A Tweakers dream come true

Online chat Rep Ray is to be avoided at all costs. He still thinks there is an Svideo output on the thing... And NEWS FLASH has a VAG output on back to... Phone support is top notch! I really have to say thank you to Philips. GASP! they LISTEN to YOU!...

EASY! Fast SIMPLE setup ; Plenty of audio inputs. RCA, Optical digital inputs. 2 RCA inputs. And MP3/1/8 (headphone style) input on the front ; If you have an old tv, Simple composite video still there for you ; I think you can use all 3 video outputs...

Menu is a little old for browsing USB files but easy to use ; The remote is a little odd at first. but can be programed for other devices ; Wires are thin for the sub. Easy Fix ; Satellite speakers need a tweeter. Easy Fix as well ; Fan seems to be a...

Strong

I bought a $150 RCA 500 watt model 2 years ago. On max volume, I wouldnt bother anyone or even shake the walls.

This thing has power. On 20/40 volume it shakes my walls. " Are you going to have that on all night" means you have a nice speaker system

Sub woofer could be better. This is easy fixable with swapping or not being a perfectionist

Inexpensive but effective

People who give this less Eggs due to inability to unlock cores need are lame. If you buy an X2 processor, you can't knock it if that's all you can get out of it. MSI boards with SB710 do a nice job of unlocking the extra cores.

For the price, it sounds excellent and has quite a selection of inputs. Very clear sound and quite a bargain

Quite touchy on the volume controls. If you're not running the system through an input that his its own volume settings, you have to be careful not to set the volume too high. No manual equalizer settings, but not unexpected for the price

Great product, great deal

I started out with the previous version of this product and only replaced it because I like the HDMI. The old unit is going into the rec room. I definitely liked the older version, and so far I'm loving this one. For the price you really can't beat it.

Simple set up, worked right away, good sound, for the price nothing beats it. The remote is nicely designed

The speakers seem a bit flimsy but I have yet to see any problem with them. The previous version has all of the speakers plug into the woofer and the woofer cable plugged into the main unit, reducing the number of cables running to back of my media...

Good Setup

This is a cheap setup for anyone on a tight budget. Ideally this setup will work great for a dorm or bedroom TV. If your expecting miracles or a ton of features then spend some more money on a better system. Overall I am pleased and would by again.

A good cheap setup that makes any TV sound better

For the price I can't complain

Overall a great buy!

Had an old Kawasaki 5.1 DVD but didn't have digital inputs. Was going to get real receiver etc, but saw this and figured try it. Very good for initial 5.1, will hold off for a while and buy a better full receiver later. This isn't perfect, but it's...

Good system, Farscape DVDs look great, upscaling appears to be very good.. Not perfect but with an optical cable gets 5.1 from the cable box and Blu-ray, next step up is $300-400 for real receiver and speakers. This is very good for now, might even be...

Oddball connectors, would be easy enough to find pins and extend, but probably will just splice the wires. Set to Pillar Box for SD, it keeps stretching to wide screen on power on. Have to go back into HD menu and set off PB and back on

Should have done more research

I wonder if Newegg would accept a return on this thing and let me pay them some more money for a unit that does dts. Their service is excellent and this is totally my own fault for not researching this topic further. For what you get compared to the...

For the price, i guess it cannot be beat. If your listening to Dolby Digital 5.1 content it sounds pretty good, and I lucked out that most stations broadcast in that format. Bass is not too bad, mids are weak (but thats expected) and the highs are...

The huge dealbreaking con, is that this thing does not support DTS content, which means your only getting 2 channel stereo output from the speakers when watching a bluray which is mastered in dts. When this thing is in stereo mode the sound is pretty...

Great deal if you buy it on sale for 130.

Looks nice, simple setup, inexpensive ; Flash drive player is a great feature ; Subwoofer sound is very nice, mid tones are good too, but high tones - specially speech, does sound a bit muffled

Limited sound choices - no custom EQ setting ; Sluggish response to remote control
