Sennheiser HD 202 II (review): A supercheap over-ear headphone for audiophiles on a budget

Boasting a comfortable fit and an engaging sound profile, the Sennheiser HD 202 II is an excellent choice for your next pair of over-ear, closed-back headphones.

Closed-back design filters ambient noise, comfortable fit with extra padding on the headband, excellent sound quality for budget price tag.

The 10-foot long cable is annoying to use outside the home, it lacks mobile controls and a microphone for smartphones, has a plastic frame.

If you're on a strict budget and can't spend more than $40, the Sennheiser HD 202 IIs are a worthwhile entry point for aftermarket cans, boasting a comfortable fit and the company's excellent signature sound.

The Sennheiser HD 202 II are average-at-best. They deliver a decent sound and won't be too distracting to the people around you because of their relatively low leakage. However, they feel cheaply made. They have no audio controls and do not block much...

Lightweight, stable design. ; Low leakage.

Poor noise isolation. ; Uncomfortable fit. ; Plasticky build.

Good value for money

" So far, I have been pleased with these headphones. The quality if fine and there's very little buzzing or crackling as with some others. You can pay a great deal of money for headphones but I use these for the TV so as not to annoy anybody else. "

A good pair of headphones

" These headphones have surprisingly good sound for the price, and are a big step up over the the previous Sennheiser model which was lacking in volume and bass. They are a little uncomfortable - they actually hurt your ears a fair bit for 1 - 2 weeks...
