Jabra Stone Bluetooth Headset

Jabra's Stone headset does away with the boom mic, but does this affect performance? Niall finds out.

But it’s not just the shape of the headset that’s unusual; it’s also different in that it’s supplied with a separate charging dock that has its own built-in battery. This is where the headset gets its name from as when it clips into the centre of this...

Jabra Stone review

The pocket-friendly Jabra Stone Bluetooth headset comes with a travel-size charging base and offers high-quality audio and extra hours of talk time.

It's hard to fault the Jabra Stone on style - it certainly looks good inside or outside its 'stone' base. But this Bluetooth headset will certainly feel and sound better if you can get it to fit well on your ear.

The Jabra Stone : Jabra Jabra Stone

Hands-free mobile devices come in a variety of shapes, sizes and appearances including those that are found in nature. So what would you think the Jabra Stone looks like?

Pairing the Jabra Stone with a handset for the first time is a breeze, almost automatic in fact. The Jabra also supports a second pairing for those multi-handset users. Controlling the earpiece is via a combination of buttons and touch sensitivity....

It is still able to offer background noise cancellation and it has two microphones in order to capture the user’s voice in high quality. The Jabra Stone comes with a charging dock that is fully portable and can be used to charge up the battery of the...

Tiny Bluetooth Earpieces : Jabra Stone and Plantronics Discovery 975

First perhaps the smallest one I have seen from Jabra, you just need to use it in your right ear. Second a more conventional (still small) offering from Plantronics, this you can use in either ear. Both have noise reducing abilities.

When I sat tiny the maximum size is 4x4x2cm, this is the bit that goes into the ear apart from that the thickness is .5cm or less. The weight is a minuscule 5grams. The actual ‘stone’ that provides extra charging while on the move is another 32grams....

Jabra Stone review

The Jabra Stone is going up against Aliph's Jawbone for the title of sleekest and sexiest Bluetooth headset. And it certainly does a good job, with a tiny frame and stunning looks. But the real question is whether you can slap one on without being...

Looks great, definitely the slickest Bluetooth headset we've ever used

Crummy battery life, mic too far from mouth

A great looking Bluetooth headset, let down by a lack of practicalities

Jabra Stone Bluetooth headset review

Finally, the teaser's over. The latest delivery to Engadget's UK penthouse is the Jabra Stone Bluetooth headset due out in the US on 8th November, and we took no time to extract the pebble from the transparent cylinder. In front of us are the two parts...

Stylish and small form factor ; Great battery life from portable charging dock ; Button-free design

Overhyped noise cancellation ; Expensive ; For right ear only

Jabra Stone review: Jabra Stone

Jabra Stone

The Jabra Stone has a one-of-a-kind design that combines a headset with a portable charger. The headset fits easily over the ear and is small enough not to be noticed. Features include multipoint technology and A2DP streaming.

The Jabra Stone's controls are difficult to use; we wish it had a snugger fit; and the call quality could be improved. It also fits around only the right ear.

While we love the style, portability, and feature set of the Jabra Stone, it does suffer from a few design and performance issues.

Jabra Stone

The Jabra Stone headset looks stylish and plays podcasts into your ear, but its battery life is so short, it's unusable.

Plays music through a mono headset. Tiny. Good voice quality.

Absolutely abysmal battery life. Poor performance in very noisy areas. No on-off switch.

Conclusion There are plenty of good-looking, high-quality Bluetooth headsets on the market right now for folks who think the Voyager Pro looks too dorky. The Stone could have made a mark for its boomless design and its music-playing prowess, but its...
