B&O BeoPlay E4 review

Great sound let down by some annoying design choices

Detailed sound quality ; A snug in-ear fit ; Noise cancelling works well

No wireless capabilities ; Control box is heavy… ; ...and oddly placed

The BeoPlay E4 in-ear headphones sound great and have admirable noise-cancellation abilities, but the overall weight of the wired remote and control box makes it a less comfortable package than it should be. The frustrations with the noise-cancelling...

B&O BeoPlay E4 review: A viable alternative to Bose?

Impressive noise cancellation and decent sound quality is good, but not the most comfortable earphones to wear

Impressive ANC capabilities ; Great build quality and looks

Uncomfortable ; Expensive ; Bloated mid-bass response

The B&O BeoPlay E4 have great noise-cancelling capabilities and they look fantastic as well. However, overall sound quality isn’t perfect, with a bit too much uncontrolled bass for my tastes. The ANC control unit design makes them awkward and...

B&O Beoplay E4 review

  (Rating Hidden)

B&O is a brand with a reputation for sound quality, and its Beoplay E4 headphones are an unusual model. They're in-ear headphones with active noise-cancelling technology. In theory, you'll be able to shut out the distractions of the outside world...

B&O Play Beoplay E4

The B&O Play Beoplay E4 earphones delivers above-average noise cancellation and solid audio performance in a somewhat dated design.

Powerful audio performance with deep bass and bright highs. Solid noise cancellation, with transparency mode to monitor your surroundings. Can be used in passive mode.

Design feels out of date. Sound signature is very sculpted—not ideal for those seeking accuracy.

In terms of noise cancellation, B&O Play's Beoplay E4 earphones are solid, but the leader of the in-ear pack remains the QuietControl 30 from Bose. And for over-ear headphones, Bose wins again with the QuietComfort 35. Throw in the fact that both of...

Great headphones but pricey!

I was really shocked to see how much these headphones retailed for. I can understand more so the big over ear headphones costing more but these bud ones seemed v expensive. I must admit I had never heard of B&O but when I mentioned the brand to others...

Excellent noise-cancelling earphones

I received a pair of these earphones to review as part of the my John Lewis Review Panel programme. This was my first experience of active noise cancelling earphones and I have found them to be excellent! There is an obvious difference between using...

Style over Substance?

Unfortunately, my first issue with these headphones is that the sound quality isn't as good as I would have expected from B&O or for the price. The Active Noise Cancellation (the main feature of this product) doesn't actually seem to cancel much more...

Great sound quality and design!

These are crafted from aluminium with slightly brushed finish which matches the apple devices, specially the space grey colour. In terms of design and finish quality B&O has done the job perfectly. It has a rectangular bit that holds the battery. It...

I was provided a free sample pair of B&O E4 active noise cancellation earphones as part of the John Lewis Review Programme. The earphones have a very premium appearance and feel. The battery and switch for the active noise cancellation pack are...

Excellent quality but not good in every situation

My first impression when I opened the box was one of quality, the headphones look stylish and feel as those they are built to last. The cables doesn't seem to tangle as easy as other headphones that I have. Inside the box are the headphones, charging...
