Sony A3000

A DSLR-style camera for just £350 sounds like a great idea, is it?

Light body, Intelligent control layout familiar from the NEX system

Slow AF system, Poor specification, Sub-standard build quality

Sony Alpha 3000 review

Mix the build of a DSLT and the NEX E-Mount and you get the Alpha 3000

APS-C size sensor ; EVF ; Affordable

Poor screen ; Disappointing EVF

Sony has produced another good camera in the shape of the a3000. It's not hugely exciting, but it's not meant to be. It produces excellent image quality and is available at an enticingly low price point.

Sony Alpha A3000 review

Despite being one of the few growing segments of the digital camera market, mirrorless versions of interchangeable-lens cameras still don't get no respect. For one, there's a perception in some quarters that they don't produce the same image quality as...

With an attractive $400 (or less) price, the Sony Alpha A3000 delivers excellent photo quality for the money.

It's slow, with a poor LCD and only slightly better EVF. Plus Sony doesn't include a charger, which may be an issue for some folks.

If you're just looking for better photo quality than a point-and-shoot on a really tight budget, but not better performance, the Sony Alpha A3000 meets that criterion.

Sony Alpha 3000 review

While the body is plastic and both the LCD and the viewfinder are well below average in resolution, the Alpha 3000 is still an excellent beginner's camera. The autofocus is speedy, even in challenging conditions. Coupled with the wide sensitivity range...

Sony A3000 review - Offers very good value for the price

The unfussy A3000 suggests a good entry point for anyone considering their first ever DSLR – or rather ‘SLT' – interchangeable lens camera

Bargain price tag if you don’t mind the lack of extras, large and chunky controls, big and broad handgrip, easy and quick to shoot video

Operational speed could be improved, fixed and low-ish resolution LCD screen, no eye sensor on viewfinder, no Wi-Fi built in

In summation it very much appears then that the A3000 has been engineered to hit a budget price tag without it intially and outwardly seeming to be the case. But still, for its price it does suggest very good value even if its operational performance...

Sony Alpha 3000 Review

The Sony Alpha 3000 is a mirrorless camera in the styling of a Digital SLR, with a 20.1 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, and Sony E-Mount, it is compatible with all Sony NEX lenses and features a 3inch screen and electronic viewfinder on the back. It is...

Price - excellent value for money, Good image quality, Pleasing colour saturation, Good panoramic mode, Good battery life, Info-lithium battery, Focus peaking

Alpha branding could cause confusion, Same size as real Digital SLRs, Low resolution screen, Small viewfinder

Sony A3000 Review

We're all in favour of diversity in the digital camera market. The greater the variety of cameras available, the more likely it is that you'll be able to find something that entirely suits your needs. That said however, the Sony A3000 seems to be a...
