Canon PowerShot G7

The Canon G series has traditionally represented the best in prosumer digital photography. Does the G7 measure up?

Canon PowerShot G7 review

The latest in Canon's G series. And it's not half bad

Strong features list ; Neat and pocketable ; Sharp images

Noise and noise reduction affects quality at higher ISOs. ; Multi-controller is tricky to use

A beautifully built camera but escalating noise as the ISO increases is a real disappointment

Canon Powershot G7 digital camera

The G-series of Canon compacts marked themselves from the crowd of other high-end models by providing a near professional level of specification in a (some would say) “bulky” but robustly built package. Well the latest in the lineage, the G7 fulfills...

Great handling, feature packed, build quality, image quality as lower ISOs

Intrusive noise at higher ISOs, purple pixel fringing, focus hunting at longer focal lengths, no RAW mode, vari-angle screen missing, no status LCD, and shadow noise – even at lowest ISOs

It’s fair to say the Canon PowerShot G7 is a comprehensively specified and brilliantly built camera, but it is also fair to say it is a disappointment. All the reasons to own a G-series camera (excellent, fast lens, RAW capture, reams of detail and low...

Canon PowerShot G7

The G7's comprehensive feature set includes a 10Mp (megapixel) sensor, face-detection autofocus, optical image stabilisation and a maximum ISO light sensitivity of 1,600. This is a sturdy-looking, sophisticated successor to the G6.

The PowerShot G7's generous controls and easy navigation may prove ideal for photographers who frequently adjust manual settings in pursuit of the perfect shot. But enthusiasts looking for a backup to their SLR (single lens reflex) digicam may be...

Canon - PowerShot G7

The PowerShot G series cameras have earned a soft spot in the heart of semi-pro photographers ever since the G1 came out in 2000. It was designed for serious snappers who perhaps couldn't afford the DSLR ...

It's been a while coming but the successor to the PowerShot G6 is still a worthy, solidly built, versatile and powerful digital camera for the semi-pro, although many will lament the loss of RAW capability and the shorter battery life.

Canon Powershot G7

The Canon Powershot G7 may cost a bit more than other compact digital cameras, but in my view it is money well spent. It has many advanced features and its picture quality is very good.

Build quality ; Good set of features ; Reasonable price for features

Shutter delay
