Samsung DuoCam SC-D6040

Decent, relatively high-resolution stills; solid low-light video quality and performance.

Weak flash; subpar still-camera performance; kludgy design.

Though it takes better still photos than a typical camcorder, it does make some performance compromises.

Samsung SC-D6040 DuoCam

CCDType: Single CCD, Video Recording Format: DV Tape

True hybrid design, with separate CCDs and lenses for video and stills, allows 4MP still capture. Built-in flash. Good video and still-image captures. Accepts multiple media card types. Extensive feature set.

Some may find it bulky and awkward to hold. Bottom-loading design doesn't work well with tripods. EVF eyepiece doesn't pivot. No accessory shoes.

The Samsung SC-D6040 DuoCam is a true hybrid, geared for more serious users. It has good still-image capture capabilities (with flash) and produces good-quality video. This flexible camcorder performs well.

Excellent camera/camcorder

Short and to the point: Takes fabulous still pictures and great video. Easy to use, and small size (especially considering it's two devices in one). I've owned this for about 5 months and have no complaints at all to this point.
