JVC Everio GZ-X900 review

The JVC Everio GZ-X900 is a slim, light and handsome camcorder that doubles up as a very decent camera. At the top settings, video and still-image quality are both good, but, while the slow-motion modes and unique optical image stabiliser are...

Good picture quality ; Three slow-motion modes ; Effective optical image stabiliser ; Unusual but appealing design

Expensive ; Fiddly menu system ; Only 5x optical zoom

Conclusion The JVC Everio GZ-X900 is a solid performer that comes very close to being the perfect combination of camcorder and still photo camera. There are bells and whistles aplenty too, but it's hard to swallow the overblown price, especially when a...

JVC Everio GZ-X900

The JVC Everio GZ-X900 marries excellent video with decent photography, but at what cost?

As with pretty much every camcorder released so far in 2009, our pronouncement on the Everio GZ-X900 falls back to price. If it had been pitched at £700 or less, this would be an absolutely storming buy. But at more like £900, the X900 costs more than...

It doesn't shout “quality”, but this camera takes fantastic HD video

JVC - Everio GZ-X900

JVC's latest digital camcorder is a curious hybrid beast that attempts to be innovative in several areas whilst also keeping up with the Joneses in terms of current fashionable technological trends. The latter is most ...

JVC has gone for the compact look (and weight) with the new X900, using SD storage, a bigger and more powerful CMOS sensor, improved optical image stabilization and high quality HD images. The controls are still irritating, though, and the price might...

JVC Everio GZ-X900 AVCHD Camcorder

JVC's GZ-X900 represents a considerable departure from the smooth, rounded looks of the Everio hard disk and solid-state camcorders that have helped to revolutionise home video in the past few years. The customary curves and glossy body finish have...

The camera's general form factor is, however, much to be recommended; it's chunky and handles well, but is compact enough to slip into a small pocket or bag. The docking station enables some external connections to remain permanent, dropping the camera...

JVC Everio GZ-X900

Some fantastic features high speed video at low resolution but best of all is the point and shoot facilities that can give results like a pro to an average user! Its still camera facilities are awesome two I no longer carry both

No touch screen and menu slider takes a couple of times to get used to but no real problem and no screen protector needed

JVC Everio GZ-X900 HD camcorder

JVC's Everio GZ-X900 high-definition camcorder ($1,999 as of October 7, 2009) has a sleek design, includes a few innovative features, and generates ac...

Attractive design, innovative user interface, handy YouTube upload tool

Sub par video performance; especially indoors, poor battery life, too expensive

The JVC Everio GZ-X900 is a decent high-definition camcorder let down by its poor low-light performance. There are plenty of better (and cheaper) options on the market.

JVC Everio X GZ-X900

JVC's Everio X GZ-X900 high-definition camcorder ($1000 as of September 25, 2009) has a sleek design, includes a few innovative features, and generates acceptable HD video under bright lighting conditions. Unfortunately, the unit's noticeably subpar...

Clever YouTube Upload feature ; Good performance in bright light

Terrible video in common low-light settings ; Only 1080/60i capture

The GZ-X900's substandard low-light performance outweighs the camcorder's clever features and slick appearance.
