Logitech QuickCam Sphere

The new QuickCam Sphere from Logitech is a webcam that marries cutting edge design with unique features.

Logitech QuickCam Sphere

Logitech has attempted a new approach with its latest webcam. The QuickCam Sphere follows you as you jostle around your desk. But does it work? We dance like a dervish and put it to the test.

Innovative

Poorly executed outside core functions

The QuickCam Sphere has a good stab at trying to resolve an age-old problem with webcams in that people like to move about when they talk. Talking with video is not just about the voice its about body language. However for the extra money, this just...

Logitech QuickCam Fusion

It doesn't matter how hard you try; when you sit down in front of a webcam you end up looking like you've been dragged through a hedge 50 or 60 times on a very hot day. Well, Logitech is doing its best to remedy this situation with the QuickCam Fusion.

There's a lot to admire about the QuickCam Fusion. Logitech has introduced a great feature set and some interesting technologies. Sure, you'll have to pay a fair whack for the package, but quality doesn't come cheap.

Logitech QuickCam Fusion

Logitech dominates the webcam market so much that when the company releases a new one, other vendors run and hide.

Logitech RightLight technology helped brighten videos and solved the webcam curse of whitewashed images that are due to poor lighting. A powerful built-in microphone on the camera base meant we could chat without wearing an awkward headset. You can add...

Logitech QuickCam Fusion review

Logitech QuickCam Fusion

Up to 4-megapixel pictures (interpolated after 1.3 megapixels); cute cartoon avatars; good built-in microphone; flawless integration with MSN Messenger; good software package; lots of adjustment options.

Pixelated image at any size; slightly blurry video; poor integration with Yahoo Messenger.

The Logitech QuickCam Fusion's sleek design and impressive software bundle make it one of the best Webcams we've seen.

Logitech QuickCam review

Logitech QuickCam

Lens pans and tilts to automatically track your face; innovative design places lens at eye level; excellent low-light performance; built-in microphone.

Face tracking can be temperamental; noisy mechanical movements.

Its innovative design and mechanical face-tracking capabilities make this top-of-the-line Webcam a true conversation piece.

Logitech QuickCam Sphere AF

While the QuickCam Sphere produces excellent pictures and has impressed us with its automatic face tracking, these features don't justify the extra expense over the cheaper webcams in the Logitech stable with matching optics.

Outstanding video quality. Great low light performance. Mechanical automatic face tracking.

Intrusive design. Expensive.

While we have been impressed with the Sphere's ability to follow us around the room, for the vast majority of people who use webcams this freedom to move is overkill and Logitech's excellent QuickCam Pro 9000 is AU$100 cheaper.

You get what you pay!

I bought this on play.com, having seen it on here half the price than was on the manufacturers website. The picture quality is ok, but after 45 seconds during a skype call I have been informed the picture being received freezes. This is very annoying...
