Do you need to spend a fortune on a webcam to get the chance to talk to others over the web? Hercules don't think so and have created the Hercules Dualpix Exchange webcam. At £24.99 does it compete with the big boys? We get filming to find out. The...
Cheap, does what it sets out to do
Software limited, no wide-angle lens, quality not great
The Hercules Dualpix Exchange offers enough for the webcam user on a budget if you aren't looking for a package that offers anything more than just that.

There are a lot of choices when it comes to purchasing a webcam, but thanks to Hercules Dualpix Exchange this task has become easier than ever. Hercules packs the Dualpix Exchange with 2 Mega Pixels, a built in microphone, and their own Webcam Station...
Records videos + 2MP photos ; Works out of the box with both XP and Vista ; Very user friendly Software ; Great Looks and excellent build quality ; Built in Microphone
Doesn't record smooth videos at advertised resolution ; Zoom could be better
I have personally never had any experience with Hercules products before, since this being my first product, my experience was nothing but overwhelming aside from from the fact it wasn't able to record smooth videos at advertised resolution, which in...

Webcam works ok once you manage to get it set up. Driver decent for a cheap webcam, includes zoom
Drivers did not load by clicking setup.exe on the CD, but I was able to get them from the mfrs website. There was no manual on the CD nor downloadable from the website. There is a quick start guide, but nowhere does it tell you that the webcam is...

Replaced it with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000. Very pleased with it.
The camera is attractive-looking and inexpensive
I'm not sure how this camera performs under Windows, but in Ubuntu and Mac OS X, this UVC-spec camera performs abysmally. I recently moved my main workstation from my 13" MacBook Pro to a Linux desktop (tried Ubuntu and Debian), so I needed a webcam to...

Gets the job done
Resolution lower than preferred. No special features of any sort. But you get what you pay for
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Use this to video chat with family and friends on the Eastern seaboard, and it works well. The mic is pretty good too and doesn't echo too badly. Its still a web cam. The high res is ineterpolated from a 640X480 resolution. For a webcam in this price...
Affordable ; Nice Resolution ; Glass Lens
High res is interpolated, but still its not bad
Consumer review (newegg.com)
you get what you pay for
cheap ; 640x480 quality isn't too bad
1280 x 960 is AWFUL and a bad marketing ploy
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Nope.
For the price I have not found a camera with a cleaner and clearer image. With all the drivers installed, and using the camera through Skype the lag seems at most a second or so behind, this makes webcam visits over the interwebs quite tolerable
The griping mechanism of the camera is not terribly secure and falls easily off the monitor
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Not really good for use in the evening or darkened office/room. Requires good lighting condition to communicate.
Small and Inexpensive
None
Consumer review (newegg.com)
The camera will do what I need it to, the drivers were easily obtained from the Hercules support site (CD comes with the camera, my drive is out of commision), camera looks cool and is much smaller than I thought it would be (bonus).
Good price - on sale, easy setup, intuitive features. No dead pixels (like the webcam this one is replacing). You can turn off the bright blue LED!
I'll second the yellow tint from a previous reviewer. Using anything other than the standard resolution for pictures, you'll find an EXTREMELY grainy photo.
