The Oculus Quest 2 is powerful, fun, versatile, and cheaper than the first Quest

Will you accept another Quest? Originally Oculus, now Meta, this standalone headset brings VR to more people than ever
Improved resolution ; Lighter than the Quest ; 90Hz support coming soon ; Large library of apps and games
No improvement to headset battery life ; VR still makes us woozy ; Requires you to log in through Facebook
Not a reinvention, but our favourite VR headset is now even better (and cheaper)

The Oculus Quest 2 is the only VR headset you should consider buying right now, with a detailed display, standalone and PC capabilities and a cheap price tag.
Lightweight ; High-resolution display ; Cheap
Oculus Insight isn’t perfect ; Preset IPD settings ; No dedicated headphones
The Oculus Quest 2 is a game-changer, offering high-quality standalone capabilities and the option to turn into a PC VR headset when necessary, and to top it off, it’s cheaper than practically every other headset available right now.

The Quest 2 gets a bump-up in storage, and continues to get software upgrades. But: you need a Facebook account to use it.
$100 less than before ; Better, faster processor ; Higher-res display ; Great self-contained gaming experience ; Doubles as PC VR headset ; Lighter and a bit smaller
Store still lacks some higher-end games ; Only 2-3 hours of battery life ; You have to use Facebook to log in

Verdict: VR is finally hitting the mainstream with the Oculus Quest 2. With a relatively lower price tag than previous VR headsets and a lot more utility, the Oculus Quest 2 is the consumer VR headset that everyone was waiting for. The Oculus Quest 2...
Cheaper than other VR solutions ; Doesn’t require tracking base stations ; Can be used with PC VR games using wired and wireless solutions ; Excellent tracking and screen fidelity
Requires a Facebook account to use ; Might cause motion sickness for some

The most accessible VR headset gets better.
Amazing resolution ; Lightweight, compact and portable ; Much more powerful than original Quest ; Great price
White picks up dirt and grime ; Poor controller ergonomics ; No Oculus Link cable in the box ; IPD adjustment could be more precise
The Oculus Quest 2 has excellent performance, striking visuals and is lighter than the old version. It has its shortcomings, such as uncomfortable controllers, but the HMD’s a worthy replacement for the original Quest and as Facebook’s sole VR headset.

The Oculus Quest 2 improves on the original in every way: It has sharper screens, a more comfortable fit and it's far more powerful. It's a superior standalone VR headset, but it's also good enough to compete with more expensive competitors when...
Higher resolution screens ; More powerful hardware ; Excellent standalone VR ; Works well as a desktop VR headset ; $299 price is a steal
Standalone games still limited by mobile hardware ; 90Hz isn’t available at launch ; Fit adjustment is a bit wonky

The Meta Quest 2 is two years old and $101 more expensive. For now, though, it's still the VR headset to beat.
High-res display ; Great self-contained gaming experience ; Doubles as PC VR headset ; Works well with a handful of fitness apps
$101 more expensive ; Only 2-3 hours of battery life ; Not designed for kids

Editors' Choice: The Meta Quest 2, for $199, is impossible to beat for value.
High-res display ; Great self-contained gaming experience ; Doubles as PC VR headset ; Works well with a handful of fitness apps
Only 2-3 hours of battery life ; Not well-designed for kids
