Vizio's E series review: Unbeatable picture quality for the money

There may be better TVs released this year, and there may be a cheaper ones too, but we'd be flabbergasted if any TV ended up being better than this one and costing less.

The models of the Vizio E series equipped with local dimming deliver superb picture quality for a very affordable price. The image evinces deep black levels with little to no blooming and great bright-room performance, and it provides for plenty of...

Color accuracy and video processing not quite as good as some competitors; poor sound quality; ho-hum styling; lackluster remote.

With picture quality that outdoes that of numerous more-expensive TVs, Vizio's E series likely represents the best value of 2014.

VIZIO E480i-B2

For 2014, Vizio, in contrast (pun intended) to just about everyone else, offers even more local dimming TVs at more affordable prices than ever. The E series is the company's cheapest line, and at 39 inches and up, most of them have that extra. And it...

Vizio E480i-B2

The Vizio Ei-B2 series is a full-featured LED HDTV line with an appealing price point, but it suffers from some notable picture issues.

Inexpensive. Lots of online services and apps. Four HDMI ports.

Oversaturated colors by default. Relatively dim panel throws off effective contrast ratio. Poor shadow detail.

Power and Conclusion Under normal viewing conditions, the E550i consumes 103 watts. This is solidly middle-of-the-road for a 55-inch LED-lit HDTV, and doesn't stand out against other LCD screens. Besides an Energy Star-branded Standard picture mode...

Excellent TV

I looked at almost every TV brand both on Best Buy and Tiger Direct. I was told Samsung was the best quality TV on the market. I found my Visio on sale here and bought it. I could have paid another $200.00 for a Samsung but am glad I didn't and got the...

Poor TV

I waited a while - saved money - to purchase a larger TV. I went with this one based on the price and value I was reminded about. First thing - I seem to have the hardest time using the remote control. I have to point it at a special, specific way to...

Stay Away from this product - Turns off randomly

I cannot tell you how strongly I recommend that you DO NOT BUY this tv under any circumstances. I had issues with one, exchanged it and had the exact same issues with the second. This tv will randomly turn itself off. Fastest way to replicate this is...

Vizio Tv Owner-Model E-480i-B2

I am pleased so far with my purchase, the slim design is attractive, the picture quality at 1080p is awesome. The picture settings are very versatile, which is convenient to optimize your preferred visual settings. If you are looking for a true smart...

lacks picture adjustments & more

I find the picture brash and in a month have not found any way to do a full adjustment to improve it. The remote on mine is frustrating at best. Any button you are trying to use goes back and forth with one touch. Example; going to previous channel, it...

48in. Vizio

I was very pleased with this TV. Only bad thing was, you have to point remote to the bottom left of TV. Sound quality was ok but, ended up buying Vizio 5.1 Sound bar and, that made it sweet. Nice quality picture. Make sure you are receiving 1080P for a...

Consumer review (walmart.com)

Good picture. Bad sound. Tiny remote.

The picture is very good, with lots of adjustments for fine tuning; mostly unnecessary when using the "calibrated" factory setting. The sound is as bad as any TV I've ever heard. I had to check to be sure the speakers weren't still covered with...
