Toshiba Regza 40ZF355D 40in LCD TV

Toshiba's last super-slim bezel TV was a bit of a disappointment, but Riyad thinks that the latest model could set things straight.

The Toshiba 40ZF355D is everything that I'd wished the original 40XF355D was. The picture quality is greatly improved, with far deeper blacks than I expected and consequently more vivid colours. The 100Hz processing and especially the 5:5 pulldown...

Toshiba 40ZF355DB review

Experience some superior hi-def pictures with this skinny LCD

Bold colours ; Compact design ; Good feature count ; Well connected

Flickering effect ; SD pictures not the best

The Toshiba 40ZF355DB’s almost brilliant pictures are let down by a flickering issue that is almost impossible to ignore

Toshiba Regza 40ZF355DB television

Televisions are getting thinner than your average supermodel, but does it really make a difference to your television viewing? We plonked ourselves on the sofa to find out. This Toshiba television might not offer you Ambilight, or 3D capabilities, or...

Thin frame, picture quality, three HDMI slots

Setup menu clunky, blue light on front

This Toshiba television might not offer you Ambilight, or 3D capabilities, or even the promise of a frame that's both pink and black at the same time, but what it does offer is a thin, stylish, and simple set that packs a punch on image quality.

Toshiba 40ZF355D review

Toshiba's latest ultra-slim set is a paragon of space-efficiency, and it looks fabulous, too

Not quite rounded enough to earn top marks, but a cracking telly that’s available for a decent price

Toshiba 40ZF355D

While the Toshiba 40ZF355D doesn't boast the best picture quality around, it gets bonus points for affordability and overall litheness. Another fine slab 'o' slim from Tosh.

It's 23mm thin! That's about as wide as our big thumb

Weak black levels and overall picture quality could have been better

Toshiba 40ZF355D

The 40-inch Toshiba 40ZF355D is part of the company's REGZA range of LCD televisions and offers full-HD, 100Hz picture processing technology in a frame that's just 23mm thin! It has three HDMI ports and a contrast ratio of 30,000:1. The good The...

The Toshiba 40ZF355D’s dinky dimensions give it a compelling selling point. Picture quality could have been better, but for the price, you're getting a super-svelte 40-inch telly. And that can't be bad! Toshiba 40ZF355D is tagged with Toshiba 40ZF355D,...

Toshiba REGZA 40ZF355DB

As part of Toshiba's 'Picture Frame' range, its trick is that it shrinks its bezel down to an almost unfeasible size; just 23mm across. This means that your picture almost looks like it's floating in mid air - an effect that's not as showy as our other...

A design so subtle it's startling, takes up less space than any other 40in TV, decent HD pictures, fair price

Strange flickering effect to pictures, standard definition performance isn't the best

Toshiba 40ZF355D Review - 40" Regza 1080p LCD HDTV

We first spotted Toshiba's 1080p "Picture Frame" LCDs at last summer's IFA electronics show in Berlin, and were immediately drawn to the unique and stunning design of these HDTVs. More importantly, though, we noticed the impressive contrast and deep...

Excellent black level and shadow detail ; Flawless high definition detail thanks to 1:1 mapping option ; Handles 1080p/24 video signal correctly without telecine judder ; Primary colours suitably accurate after calibration ; User-accessible Colour...

No white balance control in user menu for greyscale calibration ; 100hz MCFI mode can cause artefacts if enabled ; Lack of full per-input settings ; Exact Scan] irritation - 1:1 mapping option sometimes needs re-enabled ; 30ms input lag not the...

The Pros and Cons lists above should be a reminder that finding fault with the Toshiba 40ZF355D is relatively difficult. Any criticisms we could find were fairly insignificant given the LCD TV's other strengths.

Toshiba 40ZF355DB

Great to be able to get a 40" TV in the same size footprint as most 37" TVs. Image quality really is excellent, especially in SD compared to other makes we researched. Sound is perfectly acceptable for TV viewing but perhaps for a better movie...

EPG is a little slow to react but not too bad. Connection for a PC is on the back rather than on the side which is an annoyance as we have to move things to get at it but I guess I could leave a cable attached permanently.
