Sony Bravia KDL-40NX803

This 40in LCD TV is one of the best edge LED picture performers we've seen yet - find out why.

It’s impossible to ignore the fact that Panasonic's P42V20 plasma TV can be bought for £100 or so less than its Sony rival, despite being 2in bigger, allowing you to record to USB HDD and producing some terrific plasma picture quality.

Sony Bravia KDL-40NX803 review

Like one of Kubrick's apemen, we are in awe of Sony's leaning LCD monolith – but could it be too stylish?

Smart design ; Superb remote and user interface ; Deep blacks and crisp colours ; Useful online content

Bravia widgets are glitchy and slow ; Soft focus GUI ; Puny speakers

Nice design features and undeniable style make this set very appealing, but it's not quite the best LCD TV on the block

Sony BRAVIA KDL-52NX800 LED television

This high-end Sony LED TV has a fashionable design and good (but not great) image quality

Striking design with optional tilting display stand, plenty of Internet features, great internal tuner, good 200Hz implementation

Distracting glossy screen, backlight bleeding visible at high brightness, some white crush in high contrast scenes

Sony's 52in BRAVIA KDL-52NX800 LED television has an excellent design and a swathe of Internet features that cut out the need for a media centre PC. Image quality is good for an LED television, but a few flaws stop it from beating rival plasmas.

Sony KDL-60NX800 60-inch LCD TV

(Editor's note: This review of the Sony NX800 series is based on our hands-on testing and evaluation of the 52-inch Sony Bravia KDL-52NX800. According to the manufacturer, the image quality and features should be equivalent for each TV in this model...

Built-in Wi-Fi ; Generally good image quality ; Handsome, big-screen set ; Strong Internet features

Supports very few multimedia formats ; Some features are difficult to find or set up ; Pricey

The Sony Bravia NX800 Series delivers respectable audio/video quality and a ton of Internet features, but suffers from annoying design issues.

Sony Bravia KDL-52NX800 52-Inch LCD TV

The Sony Bravia KDL-52NX800 looks great on paper: a 52-inch LED TV with a 240Hz refresh rate, built-in Wi-Fi, and the most impressive lineup of Internet services we've seen to date. But a number of usability issues undermine the set's performance; and...

Sony Bravia KDL-52NX800

Sony's 52-inch KDL-52NX800 HDTV boasts a slick and thoughtful design and comes with lots of extras including integrated Wi-Fi and plenty of Web apps. Unfortunately, the picture quality you get with this LED-based set isn't in line with its high price.

Smooth, crisp HD picture. Integrated Wi-Fi. Attractive, intuitive design. Built-in cable organizer. Recessed power port. Familiar Sony XrossMediaBar interface.

Pricey set for a set that doesn't support 3D. Very limited viewing angle. So-so SD performance.

Sony Bravia KDL-NX800 review: Sony Bravia KDL-NX800

Sony Bravia KDL-NX800

Excellent design with stylish monolithic exterior; ergonomic remote control; snappy menu system; relatively accurate color; built-in Wi-Fi; solid Internet services including Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, niche video services, and Yahoo Widgets;...

Relatively expensive; reproduces lighter black levels; darker areas tinged blue; cannot adjust dejudder processing much; less-even screen uniformity; glossy screen reflects ambient light; Netflix image quality worse than on other streaming devices.

Despite a picture that won't wow sticklers, Sony's edge-lit LED-based NX800 sets a high bar for its beautiful design and well-executed features.
