Sony Bravia KDL-32W5500 review

Sony have packed the features into this 32" HDTV

Excellent pictures ; Reasonable value

Limited online features ; Some motion blur

Exceptionally well-featured, but its pictures are just flawed enough to stop us giving it an unreserved thumbs up

Sony KDL-32V5500 review

Did you really expect anything less from this LCD? The Sony KDL-32V5500 is a formidable flag in the sand

Expansive specification ; clean and tidy looks ; clean and tidy pictures, with motion a particular strength

Short of outright low-light insight ; sounds flat

Keep the backlighting nice and even, Sony, and everything else just falls into place. As we've said before: formidable

Sony Bravia KDL32W5500 review

Say what you want about Sony's seemingly inflated prices versus competitors, but one thing you almost always get from the company is a well-designed product. As you would expect, the Sony Bravia KDL32W5500 is solidly and stylishly constructed.

If you’re looking for a mid-size LCD television, the Sony Bravia KDL32W5500 is king of the bunch. It comes with a higher price tag than we would have liked, but if you want the pedigree you’ll have to pay for it.

Sony KDL-32W5500

Another solid LCD from Sony although we still remain unconvinced by 100Hz processing ..

Picture quality in particular black level ability

Benefits of 100Hz do not convince

This is another LCD TV form Sony which delivers a solid all round performance. Your own perception of the effectiveness of 100Hz is an important factor for consideration. A side by side comparison with the 32V5500 at your local retailer might be a good...

Sony KDL-32V5500

Sony delivers a class leading mid level LCD TV ..

Most aspects of picture quality are outstanding

Can't match plasma for shadow detailing

With an accomplished performance in all areas, the KDL-32V5500 delivers on the promise of a class leading mid level LCD TV.

Sony Bravia KDL-32W5500

Its rather bland front end gives way to a much more appealing rear, distinguished by a really healthy collection of connections including four HDMIs, a USB port, and an intriguing Ethernet port. This dual-purpose jack can both connect to a DLNA PC, or...

Really sharp HD and standard def pictures, good colours and black levels, plenty of features, solid audio

Limited viewing angle, currently disappointing online service, occasional picture 'bloom', minor motion blur

Sony KDL-32V5500 1920x1080p LCD HDTV

Ah, gloss black again. The KDL-32V5500's 1080p panel is framed by a thick black bezel, which comes covered in protective film to avoid scratches. It's a shame that Sony have succumbed to this trendy, glossy finish - in the past, I had the impression...

Sony KDL-32W5500 1920x1080p Full HD 32" LCD TV

The bottom half of the unit features a shiny, mirror-like strip, with stippled black effect. Below this, there's a stippled speaker bar. The entire contraption then sits on top of a glossy black stand. All in all, the styling is entirely Sony W-Series:...

Black level and contrast are superior to many other LCD TVs, Design is fairly pleasing, Greyscale is shockingly accurate out of the box using "Theatre" mode, And in this case, could be improved further with the calibration options, Standard def video...

Colour accuracy (although an improvement on older Sonys) could still be improved, LCD panel has response time issues with black, and viewing angle is still an issue, OSD is slightly unresponsive
