Sony HX800

HX800 is Sony's first 3DTV. It's a so-called 3D Ready flat panel TV which means that you will have to buy a separate 3D transmitter and 3D glasses. Sony HX800 also features Sony's Deep Black panel, Edge LED, Bravia Internet TV, DLNA and 200/240 Hz.

Response time; Fair black level; 3D picture quality; HD picture; Internet and functionality

Clouding; Some inputs pointing towards the back wall; Color accuracy; Reflections in panel

Sony HX800 has exciting media functionality with a lot of features. I feel that the Internet access is the best from any TV manufacturer today but the DLNA function could be improved. The speakers are fair and above average.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-46HX800 3D LED television

Great black levels, good default sharpness levels, good detail, excellent BRAVIA Internet Video service

Expensive, 3D receiver and glasses must be purchased separately

Sony's BRAVIA KDL-46HX800 is impressive. It has better black levels than last year's plasma TVs, and even its default settings deliver a great level of detail without being excessively sharp. It is expensive though, and if you want to view 3D content...

Sony HX800 Series

(Editor's note: This review of the Sony HX800 series is based on our hands-on testing and evaluation of the 40-inch 40HX800. According to the manufacturer, the image quality and features should be equivalent for each TV in this model line.)

Cool remote with power button on back ; Surround sound has a lot of depth

Colors are a little off and require tweaking ; Menus take up the entire screen

Sony's HX800 series' picture quality and surround sound are good enough to justify its current price.

Sony Bravia KDL-55HX800

The 55-inch LED-backlit Bravia KDL-55HX800 delivers solid 3D imagery, and an even-better 2D picture. Features are plentiful, but you'll pay dearly for this cutting-edge HDTV.

3D-ready. Very good 3D and 2D picture quality. Attractive cabinet. Plenty of Web apps.

Expensive. 3D glasses and transmitter cost extra. Some minor backlight blooming. Glasses are heavy and can become a bit uncomfortable when worn for long periods.
