Sony Bravia KDL-47W805A

Can Sony's second tier W8 series pick up where the deliriously good flagship W9 left off?

Bright scenes and 3D look good, Lots of online video services, Remarkably low input lag

Has trouble handling dark scenes, Apps list lacks structure, Visible line structure with 3D

Sony KDL-47W805A review

The Sony W8 Series 47-inch screen combines web features with cracking design

Great motion on pictures ; Fast ; funky user interface ; Jam packed Internet TV portal

Smart TV portal a bit jumbled ; Single tuner seems a bit retro ; Not all catch-up services

Sony KDL-47W805 review

This TV enjoys strong features and pretty looks and costs much less than the imperious W905 series

Bright content looks great ; Good online platform ; 3D works well ; Gaming lag is excellent

Average native contrast performance ; Flawed contrast boosting features ; Audio is uninspiring ; Online interface lacks sophistication

If you do consider yourself a bit of a movie buff, we're pretty confident that the Sony 47W805's difficulties with dark scenes will annoy you from time to time.

Sony KDL-42W805A

A great-looking TV with many strengths but black levels let the side down

Bold design ; NFC-toting second remote ; High levels of picture detail ; Well-judged colours

Black levels need to be deeper ; Frustrating smart content ; Lightweight sound

The Sony KDL-42W805A is a fine performer with many strengths. We particularly like its fine detail and its stunning, comfortable 3D performance.

Sony KDL-47W805A TV Review

We take a look at Sony's high-end 8 Series, can it reach the heights of their flagship 905?

Excellent greyscale after calibration ; Very low input lag for gamers ; Very accurate colours post calibration ; Picture processing is up there with the best ; Viewing angles are good

Weak blacks and contrast ; Dirty screen effect ruined lots of content ; Dimming system is flawed ; Overpriced vs performance

Sony’s W805A is certainly a good looker and although its bezel is largely plain black – with just a hint of turquoise – the loop stand is certainly distinct, stylish and it swivels to boot. As is the current trend for high (or highish) end TVs, it...

Sony KDL-47W802A

The Sony W802A series of LED-lit LCD HDTVs performs well, but you can find other models that offer better performance for the price—or a lower price for similar performance.

Full-featured. Good performance. Bright panel. Stylish design.

Less-than-stellar black levels. Slightly off color. Expensive considering the picture quality.

Power and Conclusion Under normal viewing conditions, the W802 consumes 123 watts with Eco mode turned off and 94 watts with Eco mode set to low; the high Eco mode makes the screen too dark to watch. The screen is a modest power consumer, comparable to...

Sony W802A LED LCD: More style than value

The good-looking Sony W802A television offers decent image quality for an LED but its color palette and high price pale in comparison to cheaper plasmas like the Panasonic ST60.

The ; offers relatively deep black levels and good shadow detail for an LED-based LCD TV; has sleek, minimalist styling and a simple, clear interface; well-rounded feature set includes enhanced mobile connectivity options; introduces very little input...

Somewhat expensive; color fidelity, uniformity and picture processing are a mixed bag.

The Sony W802A LED LCD delivers lots of style and features, but its picture quality is only decent at this price.

Sony KDL-65W850A 3D HDTV

2D Performance 3D Performance Features

With all the ink spilled these days about the trendy but expensive Ultra HDTVs, a plain vanilla HDTV, with its resolution of 1920 x 1080, may seem a little ho-hum. But Ultra HD (4K, or more correctly, 3840 x 2160) is still consumer 4K content-starved...
